I absolutely love the magazine and am smitten with this site!! I am a busy mom of four and provide daycare for my bf's three children. Born and raised in Polo, IL and am the third generation to be on our family farm. We got into the goat business about a year ago. We have 28 Boer goats and 2 dairy goats. It has definately been a learning process. Am anticipating an abundance from my garden for pickling and canning as long as I keep the Asian Beetles at bay that have infested our area lately. It's refreshing to find so many thrift-minded ingenious women who are getting back to the basics!! I like to think of myself as Betty Crocker meets Rosy Rivetor!! So keep the creative juices flowing and post all of your awesome ideas.

Hey Aunt Boby. Welcome. I am so glad to see another goat person here. I have dairy goats, too. Mostly Lamancha. What do you have? Hope you have fun here!

Wow, Toby, we are like neighbors, almost! I'm just South of Oregon - we went to the fireworks in Polo for the July 4th
celebration - wonderful music that went along with it. I have two dairy goats too, recently got them, they're just kids.
I can hardly wait til I have my own goat milk. The asian lady beetles are bad here in the fall, but boy right now, those
rotten Japenese beetles (the metallic greenish bronzie ones) are eating everything thats fruit. I sent away for some
bio-lawn stuff that's supposed to kill them when they are grubs in the ground - have to see how that works, from
Gardens Alive. I think providing day-care is a good way to earn extra money, I did that when my kids were little
too. Sounds like you are the perfect person to be taking over the family farm, I'm very glad for you. As for me, my
6 little acres is plenty for me - chickens, geese, a peacock, two dogs, 2 goats, and a modest garden is about all I can
take care of. Perhaps we'll meet up one of these days - sometimes we go to the auction barn there. Glad you found
the Farmgirl Connection, you'll like it here!

It sounds like you have your hands full! Welcome to the site. You will find that if you have any question at all you will get a warm hearted answer and not just some list of sites from a search engine.

Welcome Toby!!!

You will surely enjoy it here :) You will fit right in. The ladies are awesome and a wealth of knowledge. I love Boer goats and think they are adorable! We don't have any but a neighbor has some and I just love watching them :) Hmmm, I am picturing Rosie the Riveter wearing an apron and instead of a wrench in hand a wooden spoon
