well, first i have to tell everyone, i am not new to maryjanes, but i do feel pretty new to everything lately, including my life. i have been on my cancer journey, as some of you know, for over a year now....and well, friday was my last day for radiation. no more daily treatments and a 50 mile drive in the middle of the day. i cant hardly believe it! so, i felt i would once again become a farmgirl, even though i never left, i just felt pretty out of it and hope once again to have the farmgirl site be a bigger part of my life. i have missed the site a lot of the last year and have tried to keep in touch but it has not been easy. for those who dont know me. i am a stay at home grandma, Omie, of 5 wonderful grandkids, and i love crafting, cooking and most things goats. my dh and i live in north texas on a 16 acre farm and hope to continue moving into organic farming as he retires. i am a retired occupational therapist and love being at home. i hope to continue learning new crafts and skills from my sister farmgirls here at the site.

Frannie, just so thankful that you are feeling better and this past year is behind you. So excited to see what wonderful things you are going to be crafting. Your work is way beyond good. And how nice for you to be able to stay home and not have those long drives to deal with. So nice to know we will be hearing from you more often now. NANCY JO

Hi Fran, Was not aware of your journey. My sister took the trip 5 years ago and we thank God all is well now. I am glad to see you are making it offical to be back, I have seen your little truck of rabbits a few times on posts and can't help but smile. I am assuming you made them and they are just cute as can be. Glad you are feeling better. I'm down in Athens.
Smiles, Melody June

thanks so much to everyone for posting. i have continued to watch the site and of late i have started posting, but there seems to be so many new folks here that i thought it might be a good idea to re-introduce myself. and really for my dh and i friday was the last day of radiation and the end of that part of the journey for us. i hope to continue crafting and coming on the site more and hope my journey can veer away from the cancer journey. thanks one and all for all the love and support in the last year. wow a whole year journey!!!!

Wow Frannie! With 1741 posts...I guess you aren't new. I am new and I'm so happy to meet you. I'm from N.E. Ohio, the "cold climate." I'm so glad and thankful to the Lord for your recovery and hope to hear lots from you. I too love your "Bunny-Truck!" Adorable. I have no crafting talent like yours. I envy such talent. My mom and sister are lucky in that dept. I just love to cook, bake and garden...oh...and sing. There's always a song in my heart and a hum coming out of me continually. I guess that's a good thing...and a great gift! : ) Judy

hi judy, and so glad to meet you. the truck in the picture was made for my son by my dad, who would be 100 years old this year if he was alive. some day i will post pics of some of the other things he made for me as a child and for the grandkids. i love to do crafts, but i mostly do recycled crafts. my sister does rug hooking and beautiful tole painting and hand work that i am just not able to do. so i say just keep searching for a craft or art that you love and then have the courage to try it. you might surprise yourself. i really have always had an interest in crafting and "recycling" something that my dad was sorta famous for, in our small town. but i didnt really start crafting until i had grandchildren. i also love to sing, and used to be in a bluegrass band. now we just have a porch band and we sing and play all things acoustic. bluegrass, gospel, folk and even a little rock when the guys get rowdy. oops just remebered i had a pic of this woodie. it was made by my dad about 60+ years ago, and was always at our house when we were little girls, now it lives at my house with me and the grandkids love it!
tomorrow i think i will take some new pics to post here so you can see how the farm is looking these days. i am trying to clean up after going for so long feeling like i just couldnt quite do it. under all this clutter i think my sweet farm is hiding!

| Bonjour gal pal! I just saw this post, as I have been traveling around France (away from computer) for three weeks, and landed in Norfolk last week...spent the week playing with my two year old granddaughter, so as you can imagine I have not been near the keyboard! What a blessing to see that long road of treatment in the rear view mirror! You and your hubby are in my prayers every evening. I am looking forward to seeing pics of your wonderful farm, and crafts of course! Love ya, Nance |

My mom and her brothers and their friends use to get together and play acoustic instruments and sing too. My sister and I use to love to hear them sing while we were playing outside with our cousins. They would try and get us to sing with them, but we were so backward(being raised in the generation of kids"seen and not heard")that we'd blush and decline and go back outside. hahaha Mom raised us real strict. She was one of those moms who would say "I can do it faster myself. Now go play." But we learned quite young to clean, be responsible, appreciate all living things and share . Anything we didn't play with or wear went to our cousins or Toys for Tots. I still love giving things to other people. She gave us "Her Best Traits." I still love to clean and organize. Silly, I know. I love your blog. So much to read. Judy

| hi frannie, i am sherrye. what a joyous time for you now. to not have that appointment everyday for so very long is a drain. i had to go to chemo room for iron ivs that took 5 hours or more 2 times a week for many years. i am on a respite right now and the feeling of freedom is like flying. so in my heart i am truly happy for you. for me and my family we have a saying. its not morbid its our truth. when ask how we are we say any day above ground is a good day. my condition is genetic so my sister and others have my condition. i am a soap maker and body butters. i learned when i only could sit. now i farm also. so very much fun stuff to do as a farm girl. what a fine site this is. let us know what your up to now. sherrye |

hi sherrye, and thanks so much for your response. yes, i am so glad to have a break from the daily trips and treatments. i too am happy for you for your respite. do you know how long it will be or is it just one of those, till it changes kind of thing? soap making is definitely on my list of things to do, but i have never gotten around to it. i admire those who do, and love to buy home made soaps. thanks again for checkin in and i agree this site is such a great thing for all us farmgirl types.
