I went to a Homestead Fair that was wonderful a couple of days ago and bought a little seed packet of this and it makes the loofa to bathe with. just wondering if anyone else grows it.

Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

I haven't grown it but I want to this next year! It looks like so much fun and I want to do soap fill loofas!

I never thought of soap in them. That would be great. I bought a small package of seed and can't wait to try them this summer. I don't think I have ever seen the seed for sale before. Have you, Alee?

Yes, I have seen it in seed catalogs and online.

Really? I guess I never noticed before. I went into the herb shop and they had some dried and ready to use along with the little packets of seeds. How do you get the soap to stay inside the loofa?

I make homemade soap so I would pour it in when it was at thick trace with some wax paper taped to the bottom and let it set up that way.

I grew it once. It has a long growing time, so depending on your summer, you may want to start the seed ahead of time.

I grow it almost every year with good success. It does have a long growing season. It's not hard to grow, one year my hubby went out and picked it thinking it was zucchini tho. It dries easily, I always give it away as a dish scrubbie or to clean veggies. It does need a trellis.

Forget buns of steel, I'd rather have buns of cinnamon!
