There's a certain style of dress I love that is wrap around and look like the 40's ... Well, it might be 30's style too..I'm not quite sure but they are so easy to wear and throw on ... It's a wrap around style dress and it ties on the side (the long ties are on the dress itself and wrap around the dress to hold it) and if you have fibromyalgia and/or chronic fatigue (or chronic pain like myself) .. it's excelent for those days you feel bad but want to look good quick (and the material usually feels good on you -- COMFORT!)
Does anyone know if there are any kind of patterns out there for this? It doesn't seem like it would be that hard to make - and since I am a beginner in sewing... I need easy! lol

Brooke, I am a seamtress by trade and maybe can help you out.Do you have a pic of the wrap dress you are wanting. There are so many pics of that style of dress. I made me one and love it as well..it is a A line type(I have no waist) and I tie my belt on side or back or front..just depending on my mood for the day.. Email me if you are still looking. I also make my own patterns as well..

Karrieann, I think there was a revival in the 70's with Diane Von Furstenburg ..because it threw me off a little bit too but you're right..it's like this...Mine had a cute little collar... and ruffles around the sleeves and bottom too ... I like that one though!

There is a 40's style wrap dress too - nothing more flattering than 40's dresses I think. I saw a pattern on line at some point but had forgotten. I'll see if I can track it down again, I would like to make it too Amy Grace

I'm back - I knew I could find it again. The website is Sense and Sensibility patterns - look under the swing era and there is a darling 40's style wrap dress. Yay - as soon as I can afford it I am going to buy one too, now if I could just find a source for 40's vintage rayon.....

I just found a "see & sew" pattern (B5166) at JoAnn's last week. It doesn't look to bad. Now if I can just find the time to lay out some fabric and give it a try.

I love wrap arounds! Mostly because they don't need closures. The first thing I made when I officially became a seamstress was a wrap around skirt.
