I have done embroidery with ribbons. Ann Cox has 2 good books out on it. They are titled Silk ribbon embroidery. Excellent books to follow. Gives step by step insrtuctions with LOTS of pictures. You can probably get them cheap on ABE.com. Most books there are about 1 dollar - many with free shipping. It's very easy to do. I enjoy it. Once you get it down pat, there is nothing you can't do with ribbon! Best of luck!

I have done ribbon embroidery and when I worked for a needlework company I even designed some pattern books for it. It is so surprisingly easy, and quite lovely when you see the end result.

Cynthia, I bought some ribbon embroidery books and ribbon at Hobby Lobby years ago, I still use it when I am crazy quilting. It is very easy and a very elegant needlework. I have not looked but there is probably how tos on the internet. Just go for it. Sarita

I actually tried tonight. I think maybe my needle was the wrong kind or my material to tight of weave or my ribbon to thick or to big. But it didn't work out to well. I keep trying though and I did buy a book at Hobby Lobby. It said to have linen material and a chenille needle. I didn't have either of those. And I just bought ribbon at WalMart. I really want to do this so I just keep trying. Any suggestions would be appreciated!

You need to use silk ribbons, it allows the needles to poke thru without snagging. I love to do ribbon work. It goes really fast, and you can make gorgeous flowers with the varigated colors. Be careful to wash your ribbon first, and let it air dry, then I use my flat iron to iron it out. There is a german woman that is known for her work, she has several good books out, but I cant remember her name....she also does stumpwork, which adds depth....try a google search! Good luck, hope that helps.

Look up on youtube. There are some really good turotials on there. Divan Neikerk is just wonderful to watch and listen to :-) If you happen to click on one that does not exlpain it well enough for you click another one. I love to embroider and watch/listen as I am going all. Good luck and have fun.
