I've been looking for years for a good looking flattering riding skirt to wear with boots. Linda Evans and Barbara Stanwick wore these on TV on The Big Valley. If anyone knows source for making or purchasing ready made please send info. Thanks

I would love to have that pattern too. I just love the way those gals and Dale Evans looked.

Try the folkwear Big Sky riding Skirt pattern.

http://folkwear.com/frontier.html I am pretty sure this is what you've been seeking.

If the western catalogs are any indication, they ARE in style! Check out this page:

I have two pair from them and I love them!

Hay Ya'll!! Kyria, that is exactly what I'm looking for (the Moleskin goucho style). Now if could just find a sewing pattern like it. I want to make several pair with different fabrics for different occassions. I'm involved in the state Cattlemens Assoc. and like to dress nice but love to ride horses at the drop of a hat. So it would be nice to not have to change clothes all the time, hence, what I put on in the morning would be right for all day activities.

Bless you, Sisters.

Might not be exactly what you are looking for, but worth the try
You could also shorten the second pattern a bit, the flowery one I mean.

Daizy, I've made something similar to this and it turned out nicely.
http://www.simplicity.com/p-3320-misses-skirt.aspx There are several similar patterns on the Simplicity website under their discontinued patterns section.

I haven't searched other pattern companies yet. You might try that!

I make circle skirts all the time, and I'd be happy to make a few for y'all, if you wanted! These skirts are full circles and are great for riding...a few years ago, I spent a few days at a guest ranch and rode pretty much all day, every day, and my circle skirts were all I wore. If you wanted to provide the fabric and thread, I would make it for $30. It takes 5 yards of 45 inch fabric. All I need is a waist measurement, and I make my own pattern. The length would depend on your waist measurement...my waist is 30 inches, and my skirts end up being about 36-38 inches long. If you want it longer than that, you can get 60 inch fabric, or if you'd like it shorter, you can specify the length and we'll adjust the amount of fabirc accordingly.

I love to sew, and to make these skirts, and I'd love to help others out in this area! Here is a picture of me in one of mine. This fabric is heavy, and the skirt hangs better with heavy fabric that with light and thin fabric. You can email me directly at fiddlegirl89@gmail.com.

I so love those skirts. But I'm short, short waisted, heavy breasted and when I put mine on last year and then saw the pic. I will never wear it again. So it hangs sadly in my closet.

Hi Daizy,
Here is the link to the site for your pattern:
www.therainshed.com

Click on books/patterns on the navigation bar to the left,
then click on the " suitability Equestrian patterns" in the navigation at the top of the page.

Once there, scroll all the way to the bottom and it is the pattern on the lower left.

I LOVE the skirts, and I'm on a mission to order one when I can. Any pictures of someone riding in them?

Love those skirts, Kayla. You're quite the seamstress...I've been to your family's website and checked things out in the photo section. Maybe someday I'll order a skirt like that from you!!

Thanks, y'all! Mary, I don't have pictures of me riding in one (the last time I rode we apparently didn't get any pictures, which is sort of annoying because it was on the trip my family and I took for my senior trip, nearly 4 years ago!) It would look very similar to the picture of me sitting on the fence up there^!
