Susie, I was wishing the same thing. After my health issues last year I lost quite a bit of hair. My hair was thick to start with but now it's thin and has a different texture to it. I'm letting it grow out and all to the same length. It feels like my hair has been at this same length for months now. I can't tell that it is growing at all. When I was little they used to tell me that trims would make it grow longer, and back then I believed it. ;-) I wish there were something to speed the process up a bit.

Be glad you have hair. Mine is about 1/8" long due to cancer and I've had it this way for about two months now. It isn't growing at all and, in fact, is still falling out. Cut it so short because when it was long (growing 3 years without haircut) the fallout was painful. Be happy for what you have and the longer hair will come. Eat lots of fruits and veggies--just teasing.

Omega 3 oils in gel capsules are good for nails and hair. Most people do not get enough omega 3 in their food. Works for me and my kids.
Give thanks to yourself everyday for all the wonderful things you do! |

There is a post in Here's to Your Health about hair growth. Much of my hair fell out in an illness 3 yrs ago. Something that has always helped my hair be healthy is organic cold pressed johoba oil from La Ronna Jojoba. The should have a website, but sometimes they run out this time of yr. The oil is just all around good for skin and hair. You can leave it in overnight and wash it out, or use it to calm the frizzies, etc. It is the perfect oil for dry skin brushing. ~ Mary LD

After my mother lost her hair in her first round of chemotherapy she tried an amino acid supplement , argenine and ornithine, and had good success with it,

| Hi. I have been a stylist for 24 yrs and have my own shop. This is my personal take on it ok? I find it isnt so much what you are applying but the massaging it in part that is the key. If the hair follicle isnt dead it will open up and you get the growth. The trimming is to prevent split ends that will continue to split up the shaft and keep you from getting anywhere. It doesnt effect how fast it grows from the scalp but lets you see the progress of that growth. I do think what we take internally matters more than what we apply externally. I read a report where people on throid med were trying kelp supplements for thinning hair but dont know if it works. |

I started taking Omega 3 faithfully about 6 mos and I have noticed healthier hair and skin...I am not sure if my hair is growing any faster but it is healthier. I have suffered with scoriosis since childhood and of course it gets much worse during the winter months, however this winter it seemed much better.

I was reading on beeyoutiful.com and the bulkherbstore and they recommend horsetail - taken either as a tea or vitamin supplement! Says it does wonders for strenthing strands and giving hair healthier, fuller look! Could hurt to try :)

I have bum lenght hair and brush it every night 300 strokes. Little old fashioned, maybe, but I have done this for years and it doesn't seem to hurt.

Hi SusieK,
I have just the thing for you to try. My hair was falling out due to medication that I was taking so off to the health food store I went. I am taking a product called "Derma-Vits" made by NOW Foods. It is for Hair, Skin, & Nails and it really does work. It takes about 3-4 weeks before you see a slowdown of your hair falling out, and then 3-4 weeks later, I saw "a lot" of new growth. I take one capsule a day at bedtime, it comes in a 90 capsule bottle, and my price was $10.65. I hope this helps you. My hair is really starting to thicken up now.

I am a Master Cosmetologist and have been for 27 yrs. I was in the hospital last yr for 3 weeks. I lost a great deal of hair. It has just started thicking up again. I cut my hair and got rid of alot of the dead ends. It is feeling better. I have noticed that if ladies that I have worked on trimed there hair and I mean a trim. There hair grew. Now that the awarmer weather is coming it will start to grow faster. Warm weather everything grows. Colder weather things slow down. Deborah
