Exactly (but sometimes we need a kick, & that is when "divine intervention" steps in.)
God is in everything, & free will allows us to choose how we use it.
& sorry about being off topic too, not about women OF the Bible, but about women INTO the Bible.

Isn't that what Bible study is though going deeper into who we are and sharing?? Being we are off women a wee bit I will throw in something. I really don't believe in coincidence. I believe that God has a plan and when things are working out the way they are supposed to (coincidence) it is God's will.

Just had to throw that out and now I will try stay with women of the Bible.

I have read all the posts and I admit I find them interesting. I will speak to one of the points discussed, that the Old Testament has a lot of brutality, death etc. I appreciate the Bible, because nothing is covered up or white washed. I mean to say that it portrays people who were flawed, but in spite of it all loved and followed God to the best of their ability. He used broken vessels, as He does even today. Although we all view parts of the Bible differently, I think we Christians would agree, that we believe that the Bible was written as a source to God. It holds not some truth, but THE truth. Jesus mentions that not one jot or tittle of the "law" (lived in the OT) will be changed until it is fulfilled. (Mt.5:18) We may not be able to understand it all, but Jesus says He came not to destroy it, but to fulfill it. (Mt 5:17)As we discuss these women I hope not to forget that they struggled to do their best & lead a life of faith in God. Thank you.

Julia - God is a separate entity, but we are made in HIs image, and He is alive through our work here on his behalf. So your question what if what is you and what is me is God is true! We are here to do His work, and be His hands here on earth. We are His children. And also what you said about epiphanys coming in small doses....that is how it has been with me.

Good afternoon ladies! Enjoy reading the discussion thus far.
I'll try to be brief today, too. First of all, Julia, I assure you, I truly did not mean to hurt your feelings and it's obvious from your "dissertation" that you are not a complete moron, no, not even darn close. You are well-read and have a wonderful way with words. I was trying my best to give answers from a Christian point of view to the questions you raised.
Prudy gave a perfect explanation for the verse of Paul's. So, I don't think I assumed much - if you don't believe Jesus Christ is your savior, you don't have His Spirit (The Holy Spirit) in you. Believers in Christ have His spirit and that is what makes us children of God.
I agree with Claudia and also hope not to forget that the women we're studying struggled to do their best & lead a life of faith in God. I hope to continue my struggle to do my best and lead a life of faith in God as well.

Blessings, staci FG# 973

Maybe that is one of the most important lessons we are all learning. Women had struggles then and we do now. They handled things the best way they knew how and we try to do the same. I admire how brave they were, like Deborah with battle all around her!!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!

Words are like water to a thirsty plant sometimes! SLURP!! I love the freshness here..that is the realness and the gentleness as opposed to freshness meaning sass!

I'm inviting you all to my farm for spiked lemonade!! If ever you are in the area, you can find warmth, craziness, food and drink! I'd welcome you all...

I think I'm getting a clearer picture here and I thank you profusely. Staci, please let me reassure you...absolutely no worries! I love how you mentioned as did Prudy that it is the Spirit of Jesus we are talking about..The Holy Spirit as it defines the truth of Christianity. This is very helpful. Words are very powerful..in some instances like weapons!

Rae, I love how you tied it all together..They struggled, we struggle. Women in between struggled. It is so so so very true. Mother Teresa talks about love in action..The desire to act with the holy spirit to end suffering in others. This isn't unique to Christianity but it was so well exemplified in her and many, many others.

Jesus, like many others said, "Peace be with you." It is in this spirit that I write and say, Peace. ~julia

Ladies, I would just like to thank you so much! Being only 14, I don't have a lot of wisdom or insight into the inner workings of the world. But I have enjoyed reading these posts so much, and they make think about my faith. Julia and Rae, it is true that women of all times, whether they were religious or not, struggled, as we women today struggle. But I think that all women strive to do their best in everything they do. Thanks for the interesting posts!
God's Blessings,

Prudy you don't drink? Unheard of by my Irish heritage!! I make a mean lemonade without alcohol that has strawberries and blueberries in it. I have no idea how near/far I am from where you are. If I would get off my lazy butt and look at a map I might know! Alas, here I remain! I have a swimming pool...I have a sexy tractor (check it out in the latest MJF magazine!)..I have a great family full of fun. You are more than welcome to come on out! We're still home-bound sort of. It's an added stress to be away from Aria's hospital and oncology doctors even though we are no longer in active treatment. It's only been 6 week so no wonder I'm a little nervous to really spread my wings...Someday...

HEAVENS this is WAY off topic!!!

Staci totally inspired me to sit down and go line by line. I confess, without instruments playing in the background I found Chapter 5 Deborah's song a little, yawn, pardon me, tough! Once I got myself into the story of Chapter 4 however and got past all the historical naming I was totally into it. Fascinating.

This is VERY good for me. The Old Testament has always been an enigma. I made a commitment some time ago to begin studying it. I have a better handle on the new testament which isn't saying much but is certainly more than Torah. I have also read some of the new insight work about the historical Jesus, specifically the gospel of Thomas discovered in the Nag Hammadi library. The story of that discovery is incredible and the work in the Gospel of Thomas is extraordinary.

there I go again!!!!

Megan you're only 14!! Oh my...you are a love. How amazing to have you here. When I was 14 I guarantee you I was consumed with far less inspiring things. You are a marvel!

Blessings ladies...blessings...~julia

God is at work here in these posts! And I love this thread. Just like in the bible (and who is next by the way?), women of all ages, and all diffferent thoughts are being bold enough to be honest, and sweet enough to be tolerant and loving. That is what Crhist wanted from us as followers and believers.

We are so hard-wired to worship. I was watching the Today show during one of the outdoor concerts they have in the summer, and all these faces were crying and singing and watching a "star", and were full of worhsip.....people will gravitate toward that, and if they do not accept Christ, who knows what they will choose to fill the void? Because we yearn for someone to adore. God made us that way. I chose to adore Jesus, and try to live in the way that would be acceptable to him.....I fall, boy do I fall. But I try.

Boy, do I hear that Jeannie. My spiritual "knees" are often scabby from falling.
(I wish I could say they were calloused from prayer instead.)
I'm far from perfect which makes me extremely thankful for God's love and grace
I will praise Him for He is worthy to be praised.

Who are we studying next?...

Ladies, before we continue on with our discussion, could we all take a moment and ask for God's mercy regarding the oil "leak" in the gulf? Seeing the devastation to the ocean and all its creatures... seeing the death of animal life...birds, turtles etc., could we pray that God will show a way to end this crisis? And may this episode of man's hunger for oil, drive people to seek God in prayer and turn their anger into a positive response? Remember God's promise in ..(2 Chronicles 7:14).."if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land."

Thank you for reading my request........Claudia

Oh Claudia, Most certainly! It just makes my heart ache when I see all the devastation to our world. And prayer is the only way to clear all this up. The world has become so greedy. It just frightens me as to what our children and GC will have to live in. That is another good reason for teaching the children about God and going to him in prayer. As things are today we could stay on our knee 24/7. Thank the Lord that he knows what is in our hearts.
Hugs, Brenda

As a farmgirl at heart from SW Louisiana, I want to thank you for that prayer. How kind of you to lift the oil spill devastation up in prayer. I would like to add to that prayer the 11 people who lost their life in that explotion. May we pray for their souls and their loved ones. Thank you all.

No need to thank me. We are all ONE Body in Christ. Marly and Staci, I pray that those who lost their lives found Jesus with His hands extended to them. I also pray that their families be comforted with a comfort that we can not even understand. Others' hurts are supposed to be our hurts. We are to weep with those who weep and rejoice with those who rejoice. May we all find that we can rejoice in a miracle that God may provide to this devastation of His beautiful creation. Blessed be His holy Name!

I love your scripture chosen for praying for the terrible disaster. Lord, please help those in charge to hear you in their hearts, and look to you for wisdom, not to greed, or fear, or worldly desires.

Will definitely pray for the oil disaster victims. Not just people who have lost their homes, but animals too. Can't forget that they're God's creation too!

That is a big mess and continues to get bigger. I tend to have more compassion on the poor animals affected by things like this. They have nothing to do with human's mistakes yet are affected by it so much. Innocent creatures. I am still confused as to what happened. And I hope this new thing they are trying will stop the leak.

ok all on to Ruth! Megan sent me some things to think about and answer for this but they are at home on the computer and I am on a break at work

I know one was about who inspired her to be as she was. I will post rest later but I do admire Ruth and how she stayed with her mother-in-law. She appeared to be extremely caring and responsible to not go back to her own people.
