Hi all, I'm Cris from Wisconsin. I've been lurking for a while, and finally decided--I have to talk to these lovely women I keep reading about!!! I live in a little cottage in a rural village (it's at the intersection of two county highways--blink, and you've missed us). My little home was once a barn, and yes, I do sleep in the hayloft! I have been severely bitten by the poultry bug. I have 6 laying hens and a rooster named George, plus three ducklings and 23 silkies under heat lamps. And, in a couple of weeks, I'll be getting 25 meat chickens and two turkey poults. It is so much fun! My current projects are fixing up housing for all my flock members, including an awesome new-to-me refurbished shed that I am painting a lovely purply-pink shade. In addition to poultry, I have two dogs, five cats (three are outside kitties), an angora rabbit for wool, and two finches for entertainment at the supper table. I love knitting--currently have 6 different projects going--and sewing little creations. Has anyone else discovered the joys of freezer paper for home-made patterns? Heaven!! Anyhoo, I am just so excited to start meeting you all. I have lots more to share, but hey, who wants to overwhelm everyone at the first get-go?? ha ha!

Well hello Cris from WI. Welcome to the Farm....girl! hahaah I love the idea of a little barn/cottage. How perfect. Man you have (and are getting)a lot of chickens. A Roo named George is so cute.I live in a small cow-town myself. Bigger than a "blink" though. hahaaha But you can smell cow-poo all the time because the farms are just about 1/4 mile from us on one side, even though there's a grocery store within walking distance the other direction. So we have the best of both worlds. It's a perfect town for owning a bike and people walk late at night and aren't afraid. I love that about it.Well, Welcome Sister. I hope you enjoy this "coop" as much as I do.I have so many new friends and am learning so much!

Hey all--what a warm welcome! I feel all sorts of fuzzy.
So, I would love to attach pictures--but I don't know how. But, I have a little blog if you wanted to check it out:
www.chickenladysgreatadventures.blogspot.com

I have pictures, and little video clips, and some recipes & crafty projects, too. I am horrible at keeping a written journal, but my blog is kind of like my "electronic" diary.
