Those were the words to a song my 6 y/o daughter was singing outside a little while ago! It started out as her being a farmer, but then she stopped and said, "No, I'm a farm GIRL!" And she proceded to sing her little made-up song!
The funny thing is, I haven't been saying the word "Farmgirl" around my house at all. My hubby and son would look at me as if I were insane...we live in "suburbia" (but we do live on an acre lot). LOL But my little darlin' has always wanted our family to have a red truck, some horses, and a garden. (Which I hope to start working on soon, even if it's just potted plants...but maybe square foot gardening would be good too.)
I grew up on a farm, and just think it's awesome that she has an innate, natural desire to be on one too!!! (My son DOES like "farm living" too though, when he was in Kindergarten we rented an old farm house in WV and had a pasture behind us, a hayfield in front, a mountain and a barn behind, and a creek and a mountain in front... He loved it there!)

That is so cute - my little guy says that he is a farmboy, and that I am a farmgirl. When our farmgirl chapter came over to meet at my place last time, before they arrived, he said, "Farmgirls are handy to have around, arent' they?" It was SO funny! He's 2-1/2...

Farmgirl is a state of the heart (just like MJ says!) doesn't much matter where you live. Sounds like you have a couple of really happy farmkids too!

Hehe, she changed it to "cowgirl" last night because she said she wants to ride horses. I told her I was a farmgirl, not a cowgirl, and I had horses growing up! She's dying to get some pink cowgirl boots!

I'm just finding time to catch up on all the postings for the last couple months and I loved this! It brought back memories of me at 5-6 y/0 and my RED cowgirl boots and my rocking horse named "Dobbin Tom".
Since you have an acre, check out the site www.pathtofreedom.com. They have a 66 X 132 city lot in Pasadena and it is amazing all that they have been able to do. Your daughter's wish for a horse got me to thinking about the miniture horse farm I drive by everyday to work and how Path To Freedom was able to have miniature goats. Some of these horses are not as big as my dog. Might be something to check into.
If you find those pink boots, you must post a picture of her.

Thanks for the idea of a miniature horse! I'd never even considered it, but it could work! I remember as a kid hanging out at the fairs (county and state) with my parents in a vendor booth and going to the exhibits. I'd sneak to the back of the miniature horse exhibit and pet the horses when no one was looking because they were so cute and I couldn't resist!
Currently we're renting, so I kind of hate to till up too much soil, not to mention it's a bit late in the season to plant a lot here (hot, dry, Florida!). I'm definitely interested in doing a lot here though. When we do buy, we're hoping to stay in our neighborhood since all of the lots are around an acre in size.
I'll be looking for some pink boots when it cools off a bit, that will definitely be a good investment I'm sure! (She LOVES to "help" me with yardwork and even household chores, she would be SUCH an awesome little farmgirl if we really did have a "real" farm!!!)

Okay, you've gotten me searching the miniature horse farm sites on the internet now! There are several within a close proximity to me and there's a beautiful one for sale locally....but I can't do it "right now"!!! Definitely something to think about though! Thanks! :)

Katee, I did a quick search of MJF forums on "pink boots" because I remembered a previous post ... "jillofalltrades" had some up for barter but they were size 6 toddler; probably too small for your little girl. Anyway, you could try posting under the barter forum for the size boots you need; there ought to be some farmgirls out there with an outgrown pair? Good luck with that, and the miniature horse, which leads me to another thought.
Check out children's horse book author Katy Pistole. She is a christian author who has one called The Palomino and I think she has written, or is writing, more books. A great read for your daughter.

Today we were at Tractor Supply Company and she remembered the little bunnies they had there for sale awhile back (around Easter) and said she'd like to have one. (We'll see.) Anyway, then she said she wished we could have a farm with a horse to ride, and we could have chickens for our eggs, and that we should also get a cow and a goat for milk and butter. After that, while in the dairy section of the grocery store, she again said how we should have our own cow and goat for milk! LOL My little farmgirl at heart, I guess once it's in your genes, it's hard to get away from!!!
Thanks for the heads' up on the author Jo, I'll have to check it out at our local library!

What size boots does your daughter need. I have a size 2 pink ones with white western designs on the sides that my youngest daughter has out grown and I would be more than glad to ship them out to you. Let me know.

We are going through that right now! Kaylees cousin gave her some bright red cowboy boots she had grown out of so she told me she wanted a hat like her Becky (the cousin) so we got her the hat, and then found a very sweet little dress that matched it, so with her whole little get up on the other day she said matter of factly "I need a horse... a white one" She is 2 1/2 and I am a little worried about next year because cousin Becky is due to get her first pony.. so Kaylee will start taking this horse thing a lot more seriously by then! She says se is a cowgirl too.

Oh my goodness Fawn! My daughter should be able to wear a size 2! (Unless they're really narrow, she has wide feet.) If you'd send them out, that would be awesome!!! Would you like me to pay for them and shipping, or would you like to swap something? Email me and let me know and then I can send you my address. Oh, we're going to be in WV next month! My hubby's going to his class reunion, and we're going to be staying with the in-laws for a few days before heading to VA to do some camping and hit Busch Gardens Williamsburg. We'll be near Charleston. I can't wait, it'll be cool at night and the kids (hopefully) will get to play with some lightning bugs!
