In the last month, my father-in-law had been failing in health (he was only 69) and a week ago Sat, we sent my dh back quickly to see him. No one could tell us how long he had. He got there late on Sat, the 22nd and went right to the hospital to see him. His dad passed early the next morning. I swear he was waiting for my dh to get there (RI) before he would leave. I just got back from the wake and funeral and I was so amazed at the throngs of people from all over and all walks of life that came to pay their respects. I was so sad, but I see how good he was to all he met and it makes me want to be a better person. He was truly loved. Have you had an experience like this? I'm not a bad person, but I know I can be a lot better. I guess that was his gift to me.

It was, Kay. People that knew him in high school even came. His father was one of those people that always had a kind word for others. Thank you.

I'm so sorry to hear of your and your family's loss - We in Utah are thinking of you and wising you all the best. I am so glad that your DH was able to see his father. Sometimes there really is a heavenly or cosmic timing to things, I think. ((hugs!))

I am so sorry. What a blessing that your husband got to see him to say goodbye. My own dad died very suddenly almost exactly two years ago and I thought it was amazing that he had been here just two weeks before to visit. His funeral was amazing to me too..lots of people that I never realized he had touched. I am so sorry for your loss!!

Debbie I completely understand. Yes i did have that experience. My dad was out playing racquetball and 2 weeks later died after only a week and a half in the hospital.. i flew out to see him and we spent his last few days together,
The funeal was difficult and they wanted me as his only child to speak. I had such a hard time and all I could say was that if I could be half the man he was I would have lived a great life. I then listened to dozens of people get up and tell of how he had impacted and made a difference in their life. I guess what I brougth out of it was its not what you have when you die it how you made a difference in others lives.
Sending prayers and blessings to your family.

Dear Debbie, I just lost my father-in-law (husband's step dad) on April 6. So sorry for your loss. Glad your husband was able to say good-bye. May you both have the strength you need to get through the loss. I'll remember you in my prayers.
