Hi
I'ld like to say hello to everyone, I'm a big fan of all things MaryJane and have been floating around the site for a while and have now decided to say Hi to everyone. I enjoy doing some of the things talked about on here and would like to learn more about the rest so am looking forward to sharing thoughts and ideas with you all.

I have two daughters , the eldest is a Firefighter and not interested at all in cooking, gardening, or craft of any kind but loves the outdoor life and the other is a dance teacher and full time mum to my adored 14 month old Grandson and loves cooking, gardening and crafting but hates the outdoor life - so I have a great mix.

I live in England and will have to ask your help and patience sometimes as some things are 'lost in translation' from North American English to ...English English - is that how to say it? You would not believe how much time I spent in the exotic vegetable aisle in the supermarkets looking for zucchini before finding out they were plain old ordinary courgettes which I had growing in my back garden.
And feel free to question me if you don't know what I'm talking about.

Anyway hope to be chatting away to you all soon.

Hey Sue - welcome. Your post made me laugh as I work in an organic/gourmet grocery and the other day had to translate courgettes into zucchini for a customer who was working with a U.K. published cookbook. So glad you have joined us!!

Welcome Sue. I saw a recipe by Jamie Oliver using courgettes and had no idea what that was. Thanks for clearing it up!

Hello and Welcome. Isn't it funny how, no matter where we are from, we all have so much in common. I just watched an episode of James Herriot on Netflix. I'm a big fan and have almost all of his books. I worked with 2 ladies from England back in the early 70's and I learned a lot of proper english from them. Welcome to the Farm Sue!

Thanks for all your lovely welcomes - maybe I'll write a glossary with all the words we use differently so people on both sides of the pond can use it!!

Hope you are all having a good weekend

Wonderful to meet you Sue! Your story about courgettes made me laugh as I had a similar experience trying to figure out what the heck capsicum were! Here I am thinking I needed to go to a high end grocery store only to find out they were bell peppers!

I love words, so capsicum and courgettes are my 2 new words of the day. Looking forward to learning a lot here. Welcome to Farmgirls!
