We have 2 wonderful pet rats who are about 9 months old. I was wondering if there was a cheaper, homemade option to the food we now purchase at the pet store. Anybody have experience with this?

Thanks!

dog kibble, cat kibble, fresh veggys and fruit, chicken scratch, nuts, and the list goes on..., just about anything a rat will eat and thrive on. My kids all had pet rats growing up, as I did, they are very sweet, clean and loving when raised right. Have fun...

P.S. give them a small block of untreated wood to chew on, and/or cooked chicken leg bones, so they can chew and where their front teeth down naturaly, cause they continualy grow.

Thank you for the advice. We do give them fresh veggie scraps a few times a week. We are vegetarian, but I could probably get some bones from friends for the rattys to chew on.
