| Hubby and I butchered our first flock of meat chickens. Was alot of work, as we are both disabled and he ha a broken foot and I have a broken wrist, BUT we got it done without fighting with each other, no yelling, no tears, just cooperative working, we been married 43 years, and are finally learning to work together! haha anyway freezer ha enuff for a year...and we are proud ,proud, proud of ourselves. now to pick some berries and make jelly. |

Great! Now I know where to come eat some fried chicken...lol. What kind of jelly are you making? I have to get busy myself. Cograts on working together with you hubby, we get so bad somtimes that we have to stop and laugh at ourselves. My hubby is a 100 mile an hour guy and I cant keep up with him, and he assumes that I understand what he is "thinking" at times and I am lost in space. So maybe we will reach that point too one day.

Congrats on your first butchering! And with broken bones, no less :) Ain't it great to be able to work together?? What kind of berries are you going out to pick? We just picked 5 quarts of blackberries today.

Wow, what a pair! That is great that you have a freezer full of chickens and are still speaking to each other! Quite a day.

Oh Lorraine...I remember that first time feeling. I wish my husband was great at working with me on that project...it doesn't go so smoothe here..haha. He is very very helpful with other projects but he hates hates hates butchering chickens. So I usually have a friend or two come over and we do it farmgirl style... a couple early morning sessions and we are done. I didn't raise any this year but may next year. I love it..not the butchering day so much..but feels so good when it is done. You will LOVE having that awesome homegrown chicken on hand all year. Great work!!
