I bought 12 duck eggs on ebay, 28 days ago. After some humidity problems in my incubator and one 6 hour stretch with no electricity I thought they were all lost but I have one wiggling little egg tonight! I am so excited, but do hope I get at least one more.
Yay, I can't stop staring at it! Everyone else is pretty much done with me saying, "Oh look it MOVED!" over and over and over. But I know you guys get it.

So sweet!! Good luck and let us know what happens. I know that the incubators make it sound all techincal with humidity and temp and everything (and you really can't be WAY off - we started with chicks/ducks in incubators) but now after watching our hen hatch out baby chicks, and seeing what she's been doing the last 28 days (like leaving the nest for LONG periods of time) sometimes I think people try to make it too technical.
Crossing my fingers for you that you get more ducklings!! I do remember with our ducks it took twice as long for them to actually get out of the shell as our chicks took. Our chicks hatches took about 12 hours from pipping to all hatched out, our duck eggs took 48 hours from pipping to all hatched out. So don't give up hope too early!!

I hope you end up with more than one, they are lonely by them selfs. FYI, if you have a broody hen, you can put duck eggs under her, I have done it many times, includeing goose eggs, and they hatch them without a problem, even thou its a longer time.

So I gave up, because the egg stopped wiggling and then four days later...it hatched! Along with another. I have two litle black Cayuga ducks named Penny and Leonard. And they stink. But Yay!

Congrats!! So glad you got some to hatch :) And ducks are STINKY!! (I know, you're thinking "Why didn't someone tell me this before....")

I am so glad you have more than 1 little duck now. They will be so happy together. And yep, they are THE messiest little critters ever. And so stinky. That's why I will not have anymore again. Ya learn as ya go.
