I'm a city girl trying to be a farmgirl so last year I planted for the first time ever cucumbers, they turned out huge, really seedy, anyway I did a little reading up on seedy cukes and found that my soil was apparently lacking something and that fish emulsion should take care of it!

OK, no problem, this year I planted several pickling cukes so I could use my own cukes for dills, I have been adding the fish emulsion every three weeks as told and my cukes are still huge!

Can someone tell me what I might be doing wrong, please!

you are waiting to long to pick them, they will grow over night, so you have to pick them daily as soon as they are the size you want.

Yep, those things are like zuccini. One day they are 1" long and the next they are a foot. Plus all the fertilizer you're giving them will make them grow bigger faster. Just start checking them every day if ya want smaller ones. I like mine about 4-5" long.

Thanks girls, I should have thought of that myself, sometimes they are hard to see, I guess I have to move things around more and look closer!

Thanks,

Sue

I've had more than my share of cukes "hide" from me and get too big, but I still eat them - I'll peel them, seed them with a spoon and eat the "fleshy" part in salads or by themselves with a little salt (or cider vinegar).

Thnaks - I have been doing the same so as not to waste them and my sister in law loves them when they are big and fat and seedy, so some of them I give to her!
