No amount of water or weeeding will bring my garden around. At this point looks to be more work that its worth.

I think everyone is having the same kind of year. It's either been too hot and dry or cold and wet. I;m so sorry your's isn't doing good. I am giving up on blueberry bushes too. One of my new ones is losing it's leaves. I just can't seem to grow them.

I hope it gets better for you.

Kris

It's been a tough year in the garden this year. I agree the weeds are loving it but I figure that I will concentrate on the veggies that are doing well and get a bumper crop and not sweat (no pun intended) so much over the veggies that aren't. I found out yesterday my friend lost nine rows of potatoes, each about 25 feet long, to blight. She has six kids so those would have been a great help through the fall and winter. So I figure it could be worse for us. Good luck.

Give thanks to yourself everyday for all the wonderful things you do!

Dismal garden year around here too. We went to alot of work early in the spring to put in some new raised beds, just to have things sit there and not grow, die, drown, freeze, or be eaten by slugs. And... I can't even complain about the weeds- haven't had much of those in the new beds either!!! I've gotten a bag of shelled peas in the freezer, 1/2 c of blueberries, and some herbs, a few strawberries (enough to eat while watering), and for now... that's about it! Even the spinach bolted when it was only 3 inches high. arrrgggghhhhh ......... I am hoping for a "late" season and MAYBE some veges will show up this fall????

Do what you love, love what you do.

I am harvesting my garden backwards it seems. I am harvesting winter squash and potatoes, but the tomatoes are just now comin on. Only about 1 of every 15 carrots came up, but after 2 months or more they are still smaller than pencils. I did get some beets and a few peas, but this year is so screwy!

Spray with castor oil it stinks but they hate it but remember to spread around the garden not in it and spray it out aways as they will move to new area without castor oil.

Sorry to hear that Diana-

I have lived in this house for 19-years and I have NEVER seen the area so lush....My garden has and is still continuing to be very prolific this year including gargantuan nuclear size WEEDS!

Our growing season is so short Diana that I plan all winter long what to plant and pray that it takes hold-We hit Pay Dirt this year!!

It's been a long time coming...hope next year will be better for you!

I have a "free-range" garden. They're quite easy to grow! Just till up the garden, spend money on the seeds and plants, then no one helps you. What does grow just kind of happens and it grows among the weeds. You are now ready to roam all over your garden and try to find your veggies - if you're lucky to find some ; ) It's kind of like an Easter egg hunt only with veggies!! LOL

Hey! That's what my garden is then! Free range! LOL! I have to dig down through the weeds to find the poor little veges. The rain has made it to where we haven't had to water, but the ground stays so wet if you pull weeds, you pull veges. We've been push mowin and weed wackin as close to the plants as we dare and then breakin the tops off the weeds instead of pullin them till time to pull up the veges for a row.

I have weeeded and found a few things. I have also remembered that I had planted 150 onion sets and only 30 have grown but I still have onions from last year. So I think I will have to just work with what I have and not be dissapointed. I found a women today who has so many snow peas she can't keep up and I have brocoli up to my ears so trade time. I do wish my corn hadn't all failed.
But I still love to get out there and see what is growing.

Whew!! I thought it was just me!!! First year in a new place and figured I'd start small... four tomato plants (beef steak) and two cherry toms, two bell peppers and three cukes!! My tomato plants are HUGE!!! but they just flower then the flowers drop off. GRRR although I do have one small tomato on one plant. Hoping that is a good sign!!
