orange oil, mist it on your animals, or soak a cloth and wipe it on. To get ones off that are deeply inbedded, use clear figernail polish, coat them with it and they will back out, make sure you have a jar with alcohol in it , to drop them in.

O.K. the clear fingernail polish is a new one - I will have to remember that one... Thanks for sharing.

Orange oil, you can get it at health food stores, feed stores, and pet supply stores, it will keep the ticks off...

Teresa, I am wondering if Skin so Soft would do the trick. I know when I use it outdoors I never have a problem with any bugs. And I used it once when fishing on a dock and I was the only one that didnt have chiggers....

Deborah, I know that skin so soft works for skeeters and chiggers, and wal-mart has an equate version of it that is so much cheaper than avon, so at least try it, you never know till you do...let me know if it does work, so I can pass it on

Teresa, I have some skin so soft. I always keep in on hand. I buy it when it is on sale...I will try it tonight...At least on 2 of the dogs. The oldest one just got groomed and the groomer told me not to put anything on him until Wednesday....

if you use advantix on your dogs they won't get them to begin with. The other stuff from the vets does not include getting rid of ticks.

We raise Beagles and my husband field trials them os they are running through high grass etc. for long lenghths of time. He as well as other handlers use cow chips. They buy them at Tractor Supply and hang them on their collars while they are trialing. Never any ticks. They remove them when they are kenneled up. We have used SSS annd it also works but can't use the scent when dogs are performing. I am giving this link to DR. Andrew Jones so you can read up on his many topics. Very interesting.
