Okay, farmgirls, please help! In my garden last night I noticed the squash affectionately known as "Squashzilla" as well as "Peter Pumpkin Plant" have both developed white powdery mildew. Must save our squash! I read online that it must be taken care of swiftly with fungicide. I am trying to stay organic. I read that you can make an organic one with water and milk and spray that on the leaves. Another suggested water and garlic. How 'bout I mix all three? Will any of this work? Please help.

Hi Nicole! I was going through the same problem! Check out the post under Garden Gate: Please Help! Powdery Mildew! The girls have come up with great solutions that really helped! The water and milk spray just wasn't cutting it in my garden, either. The addition of baking soda to the mix really helped! I used a garlic and hot pepper spray to control white moth butterflies, but I think they turned out to be Italian white moth butterflies! They stayed away for a few days, then came back... with FRIENDS! O, Mama Mia! LOL!!! Good luck! - Nini

Thanks, Nini! I will head over. I've been watching the forum all day to see if anyone had an answer. ;)

I use a few drops of dish soap liquid, 1 tsp baking soda and a splash of milk. I even used skim milk and it worked for me. Spray bottle the tops and bottoms of the leaves. Gotta stay diligent, spray especially after it rains.
Good luck!

Thanks girls for the advice. I made the spray with milk, water, and baking soda and sprayed it on several days now. It seems to be working, I don't see as much powdery stuff and the plants seem to be perking up. Thanks again!! I knew my farmgirls could rescue me!
