Hi ladies!
It has been forever since I've posted. Life has been so busy around here! Anyways, DH and I are looking into buying a farm for me to be able to raise more animals then we currently can in town.
I was wanting to start small and grow as I gain confidence, have more money, and our kids get older. I would like to add more laying hens and have maybe 20 of them total with another 20 meat hens, 5 turkeys, 4 hogs, and 10 head of cattle (maybe mini cattle). Then grow as I can handle it and there is demand. I'd also like to still have an acre for my veggies, herbs, fruits, etc.
How much land do you think I need based on your own experience? Also, if you raise all your own meat, how many of what types of animals does it take to feed your family?
I just don't want to buy to small of a farm and regret it when we out grow it, but I also don't want to lose the farm because we got in over head financial either.
Thanks for all your help!
