I just joined after finding two MaryJane magazines at the college where I teach.
I live in a small mountain community with about 800 permanent residents. It's grows in the summer. The closest twon is about 30 miles away. that's where I teach and shop.
I have a mini-farm with some rescued animals. I have 4 llams, an alpaca, four pygmy goats, a miniature horse, a few cats and some sogs. All but 2 of the animals are rescued.
I spent some of my time reseraching my family history, reading, crocheting with the local group (we donate to people who need a "hug") and working around the house. It's older and is undergoing some needed changes.
I spent 11 years in the U.S. Navy as a journalist and broadcaster. Most of that was in Japan. I learned a lot from that culture. They have some great ideas on conserving energy.
Hope to make some new friends here.

Welcome do you not find it strange the animals you have to be in need of rescue? I would think because of there differences only special people would buy and have them. Lilly here in Virginia

Welcome from a fellow Colorado Farmgirl! I'm new to using the chat forums myself (this is my 1st time). So far, I've read all kinds of great info on many topics. It should be fun to get involved and meet some new friends myself! How interesting about your rescue animals. I've recently been reading up on alpaca and am toying with the idea of getting a couple. I'd love to hear your thoughts on owning such a cute animal! Anyway...great to say "hi" and hope to keep in touch.

Hi Cheri, I'm only about 15 min from you! I haven't been on the forum for ages, but hope to become active again. You live in a beautiful community. Sounds like we have a lot in common: rescuing animals, genealogy and working on our houses! Welcome to the forum! Lu

P.s. I've been playing around with the spelling of my name ( weird I know) and I've decided that I will stick with Hannah for good. Sorry I got you all confused. Hugs!!

Hi Cheri,
Your animals sound incredible. Are the pygmy goats about the size of a big dog? I saw one when Tori Spelling was on Martha Stewart the other day. That's so interesting. I was just in Denver this past May and the air felt so crisp and clean. Welcome to the group. I'm new here myself.
