I got my Farmgirl packet in the mail the other day. I was so happy to see it! I opened it before I'd even gotten out of the car.
Once inside I read the description of a Farmgirl. The sheet that explains the hexagon and the hen with an apron etc. It lists all the things a Farmgirl is in one sentence. I read it and started getting all teary! I am or have been told that I am all of those things listed and it felt like someone had finally seen me for who I was....and liked it! What a wonderful feeling. My fiance heard me read it out loud and said tongue in cheek and proud of me "Well, that doesn't sound like you at all!" And then we both laughed out loud.
I'm putting my 'Certified Farmgirl' bumpersticker on my beatup red Ford pick up truck and proud of it. Thank you for the Sisterhood. Littleredd |

I think that I must be a sap also! I felt the same way as you when I got my packet. This place just feels like home.

You'd be surprised at how many saps are around here In these hard times, especially, it means a lot to BE a farmgirl and embrace all that it means. For me, it was like someone actually looking at me for the first time and understanding WHO I was. I'm happy that you got sappy

Welcome to you, Littleredd!
Sap, sap, sapping away down here in Texas, too! My sticker is right in the middle of my Subaru's back window up front and center where everyone can see it! I tried to get away from the sisterhood for a while, felt like maybe I was in too deep, but it kept calling me back and here I am swapping and participating again. It feels GREAT! to be a part of something so wonderful.

You are not a sap! I did the same thing. Being a part of the sisterhood is a wonderful thing. In fact, when I got my package, I was so happy that I wrapped it in my arms and danced around the room with it. And I have two MJF bumper stickers on my car. I show them off proudly.

Wow, good to know I'm not the only Sap! Thanks to you all for your comments. Can you imagine if we were all in the same room together when we received out packets? LOL. Everyone would think we'd gone nuts. But then.....I guess that's the point, who really cares what everyone else thinks? xox LR |

You'll have to count me among the saps, too. I've been snickered at for so long because of the things I just automatically do as a result of the way I was raised (like reusing bread bags), that I don't even hear it anymore. Of course, now that so many others are having to cut down on their ridiculous overspending and wastefull ways, I'm not such an oddity. And then I go and pick up a MJF magazine and realize there are so many of us. I really like this community. Thanks to all of you.

Well, count me in on this one, too! I think I danced in the street at the mailbox when mine first arrived. I think we are all in good company...

I think I must be a super-sap because I get that excited every time I find Mary Janes Farm Magazine in my mailbox, and I can't wait to get my first merit badge. On that day I'm quite certain y'all will be able to hear my yelp for joy clear accross the land. I'm going to stitch them to a jacket or bag or something I can proudly display them on every day. Chelley you are so right, this place is a community of amazing women just doing the right thing. We're really the normal ones, it's those folks who are so wrapped up in greed and waste that are the real saps; my mom used to say that those people are "more to be pitied than censored" and until they can be won over (and some of them never will) to true sanity all we can do is pray for them and keep on doing what we're doing. I am so grateful for all of YOU, my sisters!

I think we should all gather around in a circle, arm in arm, and have a good old sappy how-do-you-do for Farmgirls. GO FARMIGIRLS!!!!!
Today is the day the Lord has made. I will rejoice and be glad in it.

Crazy what being in the company of like-minded people will do to you. Maybe it's a testament to how secluded we are from the community we know is in our blood and the heritage we crave.

I can't wait to become sappy, too. Waiting for my package to arrive. I know that I will get on the sap wagon as well. I do enjoy the community of like minded women who know what it is like to survive by your wits and wisdom. I know that I work hard all day and sleep like a baby knowing that I did my part. Theresa
