Hello,
I have a way to get turkey eggs that are fertlized. I was wondering if I got these eggs to hatch what do I do next?? What kind of housing, food, etc. Since it is going to be chilly soon and I dont know how long it takes to hatch and for them to grow to be able to wonder around in there housing without worry about the cold. Any help will do.
Thanks
Deborah

Deborah, I do know that turkeys do NOT like to be too cold or chilled. I lost one of mine right after I got them in June because I forgot to turn on the heat lamp. And it was June. And they were inside. I'm sure there are others who know way more than I do but I personally would not get turkeys right now here. You may be warmer there. I think it takes 28 days to hatch turkeys. Mine are just 4 months old right now. I am going to have to get plastic up because it's been in the 40's at night. I do not want to lose them now. You might have better housing than I do also and draft free where you can have heat for them. I'm probably no help at all but that's my 2 cents.

Forgot to say I have a hen that just hatched 5 chicks. She is their heater! That's the best way to go this time of year.

Kristin, Thanks...and I would love to come and see your place sometime...I just invision it to be such a beautiful place. I will make sure I get them next spring...so they can hatch for the summer...and maybe they will be ready for the cold by the time it gets to cold next yr.
Thanks again,
Deborah
