Greetings all. I'm a new Farmgirl living along the Fox River in St. Charles, Illinois(far western burbs of Chicago) with my loving husband, happy-go-lucky son, a dog, a cat, a turtle and a small flock of young chickens. I have two older daughters, but they have already flown the coop and begun lives of their own. Although I've never actually lived on a farm, I spent plenty of summers with my grandparents on their horse property in Colorado, and have always had a dream to one day own a small farm of my own. To that end, we garden and preserve our "harvest" and hope to have daily eggs soon. I look forward to meeting Farmgirls from everywhere. Have a wonderful day everyone!

Welcome Tammy! I used to live in St. Charles and that is my home stomping grounds! But that was 30 years ago or more! LOL! It has built up so much there now and the traffic amazed me when I was back there a few years ago but the Fox River Valley is a beautiful place! I went tohighschool at Elgin Academy and we had our prom at the Baker Hotel and our Homecoming at Dunham Woods Country Club....like I said...many moons ago! What a pleasant surprise. My ex-in-laws used to have a shop in Geneva across from the court house and my ex-MIL still lives there. You will love it here as the women are so friendly and you learn so much from all of them....at least I do. BTW their flea market is very famous. Do you ever go there? Welcome, welcome!

Hi Tammy, sorry I have been sitting my grand daughter and did not get back on line till this am. I joined in late July after purchasing a Mary Jane Farm Girl Magazine. I have enjoyed all the girls here, it gives me a change to do some art work and sewing which I probably would not do. I seem to make the time for this, plus great recipes that the girls share along with information which comes in handy.
Hope u enjoy as much as I have.

Hello to all. My first exposure to Mary Jane Farmgirls was also with the July issue of the magazine. I couldn't believe I'd missed out on this little treasure. After three more issues (I would subscribe, but it's so much fun to find it at the bookstore), I am totally hooked.

I feel so connected to the Farmgirl ideals. It's how my mom raised me and my brother, and it makes me miss her and her creativity. So, the best thing I can do is to continue to immulate her style! So here I am, Farmgirl #2167! Thanks everybody!

Hi Tammy, Welcome from Lorraine in Morris, IL (~60 miles SW of Chicago). I'm not very active in the chats - but thoroughly enjoy Mary Janes magazines and all they represent. From the posts I read in these forums, there are some incredible farmgirls out there! If you're ever in Morris, let me know.

Sandra, I do know the Kane County Flea Market. I love it. I've actually met people in South Texas (where I'm from) that know it. I love going, but haven't been in a while. Think I'll put it on the agenda for November. It's always fun before the holidays.

Since you know the area, we live a five minute walk from downtown on the east side of the river. Looking to start a FarmGirl Chapter out here and one of the names we're considering is FarmGirls of the Fox Valley

If you ever make it back up this way - give a holler!

"hey dare" Diane! I LOVE WISCONSIN! My husband and I love camping (and everything else) in/about Wisconsin. Funny that you are from Janesville. My bff and I just took a girls' weekend through the area. I'd talked her into attending the Sheep & Wool festival last September. Long story short - it took us 4 hours to go from Lake Geneva to the Janesville area. Talking and laughing the entire time. We had such a blast.

Have a great one, it was nice to hear from ya.

We've camped at Bong too. Like to stay there when we go to Apple Holler for apple picking!
