When do you decide to cut the okra down. I am still getting pods, but honestly I am the only one to eat okra and I am getting tired of it. I just feel guilty cutting down a producing veg. plant.

If you want to save seed for next year you can just let the pods dry completely and then cut the rest down.

Ours are still standing, but we gave up about 2 months ago when the stalks got too high.

Suzie:
My hubby and I just last week pulled out the last two okra stalks. On each stalk, at the very top, was one okra. LOL
We got pretty much okra this year. I had friends that didn't get much. I have enough okra frozen for gumbo's and soups.

Do any of you have a really good gumbo recipe? As a Northerner I love good gumbo but don't have
a recipe for it that's great? Could you share one? And that is the only way I have ever eaten Okra is
in gumbo. We don't grow it up here. Though I think we could.

Blessings,

Oh man, I wish I had your problem.I love okra and had a hard time finding enough in the farmer's markets here to have enough to eat and freeze some.

What about drying some of the pods? They look really pretty in an Autumn wreath
