My oh my! After reading both Julia and your posts, I have nothing to say except that I stand with you both. I remember Julia from another forum ...her umbrella and her tractor...and her daughter Aria. It is a long road. My heart and prayers are with you and others who have children with serious illnesses. Blessings.

Well said Julia. I too know what you are speaking of. It may not have been a child, but it was my husband. That experience has made me who I am today. Stronger than before and able to confront the small stuff that comes my way so much easier. Walking the path of cancer makes you realize what the small stuff is. Before my journey with cancer the small stuff seemed huge! I'm pround of you Elizabeth for speaking up and responding to Julias post. It takes a lot to admit where you are and the ablitity to recognize it while you are dealing with so much. I am here for the long haul as well.

Hugs...Kristy

Elizabeth-
I am praying hard for you right now.
For you, and Jacob, and all of your family, but especially right now for you.
I have three kids too. My 5 year old daughter was hospitalized with pneumonia and breathing
problems, and I was completely exhausted, sleeping on the chair in her
room every night, trying to be there for her, afraid to leave her side so she wouldn't
wake up in a strange place alone and terrified.
If I could imagine what you're going through, if it was me, I would be constantly imagining
the worst case scenario, steeling myself to cope with it in case it came true. That fear would
hang over me, go everywhere with me, and I'd always feel the threat of it coming crashing down.
So I'm specifically praying for hope for you. For a feeling of peace and hope and energy, to get
you through the long long days when hope and normalcy seem far away. Blessings to you and all of your family.
And don't forget to eat, even when you don't feel hungry - you need to stay strong!

All my love,
another Elizabeth

Sending prayers up for you and Jacob. I don't have any children but I know well how it feels to be walking in a dark cave. And Julia is right--that ember is your love and it will guide you. Sending you a virtual cup of hot tea and a loaf of freshly baked bread.

Julia, you have written a beautiful and wrenching love letter to Elizabeth. I am in awe of you two mothers and your strength. I hope that the farmgirls here can be a little more light in that dark cave you are journeying through, Elizabeth.

Elizabeth,
I think of you often, although I have not posted. I hope that helps to send good energy your way to keep up your strength and gently stoke your embers.

There have been a few points in my life, like everyone's, where the phrase, "What was the other choice?" comes to mind. And I know that is your answer to everyone who asks how you stay so strong. I do inherently know how you must feel and the pain takes my breath away. Thank you for sharing, I wish I could help carry your load.

Marianne

Julia,
I am so sorry I was not there for you the last 3 years. I learned of your blog later in Aria's treatment. And Found it even later. I grew up in a very private family and I suppose I was functioning under those guidelines. Please keep writing to let me know what helps.

Thank you all for your continued support and prayers. It is such a blessing to see the love here on this page, find e-mails of support, and finding little notes and gifts in the mailbox. It makes some days bearable and other days extra joyful.

I wanted to let you know that my brother and mom set up a Facebook page for Jacob. So besides keeping updated via my blog you can also "Like" Jacob's Ladder on Facebook to hear more news.

I love you all...you are a huge part of my support system and I thank each and every one of you for that!

I am still thinking of you and your journey every day and sending light your way. I know that you will make it through this ordeal even though some days it may seem like a huge hill to climb. Just remember the circle of love surrounds all of you each and every minute like a hug.

Blessings, Sheri
