I can not sleep and it is just past midnight Christmas morning. I falt the need to add my Grandson ,Connor to our prayer Round up. Connor is 7 and has severe birth defects but is Meme's love bug. My heart is breaking as on Tuesday Mommy and Daddy will be taking him to a mental institution for about a 3 month stay. He has so many issues. He was born with a cleft pallet/nose and part of his brain missing. He is nonverbal but speaks throuugh his eyes, hugs and moans and screams. He is becoming such a tall strong boy and it is hard for his parents to continue to care for him at home. They have always planned for him to be with them for the rest of his life. But he has become so hard to handle. Reaching and grabbing, kicking, falling and goes from high to low.(BiPolar has not been diagnosed). My daughter and SIL do not get help from any agencies. They are trying to do it on their own. Angie broke down at his last Dr's appointment and he was admitted for a brief stay in the hospital. That has set the wheels in motion for help and his upcoming stay at Lake Mary. We are all worried to a point, but praying they can regulate his meds, stop his seisures and give us tools to help him stay at home. Thank you for your prayers Sisters... he is my little love bug !!

Hugs...Kristy

Prayers for you and your DD and SIL and especially for your love bug, Connor. It is very brave of them to try to keep him home, I pray that this stay can help him and recharge his parents. He is a doll.

Kristy you are all in my prayers. As hard as it will be it is necessary to get everything under control for everyone's safety. Dealing with a special needs child is a real challenge at times and DD and SIL are special themselves for all the devotion given. God is in control and it will all work out for the best outcome. Bless your hearts.

Blessings and Peace,

Kristy I'm praying for Connor that the medical staff will be able to get things adjusted and he'll be able to be back home. Also adding you and DD and SIL to the prayers, knowing that the Lord will be in all of this change with little Connor. What for miracles. God is amazing! Hugs, Brenda

What a day for my family. Connor was taken to The facility today. Mommy,Daddy and Trinity are lost without our little man. I will be heading over to be with them on Thurs. I will be lost as well. He always has a smile, kiss and great big hug for his Meme ! He loves me to hug him and sing a little song I made up just for him. He loves music and loves to dance with us. It's going to be so odd without him there. He went in very happy and excited to see his new teachers, roommate and a few friends he made when he visited. He is usually a smiley happy boy. I have only seen him really cry when he is sick or hurts himself. Bless his little heart. God is with him and I know this is for the best for all of us. Prayers for Angi and Jason please. This is really rough on them !! Thank you all sisters !!

I'll be praying for all of you, too, Kristy. I'm sure this is more difficult than anyone can even imagine. He's such a cutie pie - I'm sure he lights up your world. And I'm sure he'll be so happy to see his Meme on Thursday, too. Meme's are the bestest thing going, I think! I so wish I could give you a big hug right now. Like you said, God is right there with Connor; you just have to hold onto that truth in faith. And we'll keep lifting him and all of you up in faith, too. Please let us know how your visit goes! - Nini

Kristy, my first thought was that he will get the help HE needs and also his parents will get help to be able to deal with his particular disorders. Hopefully they will have classes for them to take to learn how to handle his issues. That will help alot in how they raise him. It may seem like a horrible thing to do right now but it looks like this will be good for everyone. My prayers go out to you all right now.

Prayers are on the way. Hopefully the stay with trained caregivers will come up with solutions to the problems. There may be therapies, medications and other options like a day school program that can help them deal with the situation. Dealing with bi-polar disorder is a tough road and there are other conditions that may cause such highs and lows. If he is big and stong for his age he could be a danger to himself and others when he is out of control.

My DD was a caregiver for a severely Autistic child for a couple of years. His parents weren't able to provide the care he needed when he got older and it took a severe toll on them and their marriage. If your daughter and her family are being pushed to their limit they do need intervention.

I'm also sending prayers for you and the others that love him. It sounds like you have the faith to leave it in God's hands.
There is so much we don't have the ability to understand and deal with but in trust we can find peace with what needs to be done.

Please let us know how things are going.

Susan

Kristy my heart goes out to you. Sweetie little Connor and you and your whole family is in my prayers. When you get to go visit him, give him a big hug and kiss and sing your little song. He'll love it. Everyday remember that the Lord is receiving a load of prayers. And it's a blessing that he has such a sweet personality. It will help while he is there. If you need any thing or just want to talk, call me. Hugs, Brenda

Update and more insight into Connors world. He is doing well. This is more than just a day school. He has been attending a "Regular" School and is a 1st grader. Lake Mary facility is an in residence facility. We are not able to visit him until the weekends. This was a really tough decision for his Mommy and Daddy . But Connor is non verbal and shows his frustration by letting lose with a high pitched shrill scream or starts beating his hands on something or someone. He has pieces of his brain missing that cause him not to sweat bulding up heat in his body without his meds. I know he understands much more than some people give him credit for. He shows me that all the time. I honestly think he doesnt respond as well to his parents as so many children do. But I can tell him.. Connor do you want...and he will clap his hands and smile. If not what he wants he will keep beating on the table. So it is a guessing game. But he can do it and knows what he wants. I think it will be a great learning experience for the whole family. The kids will be learning new ways to deal with his issues and him getting bigger. They will be working with his meds.. he is on so many to control this and that.. but have not found the right combo to keep the highs and lows from being so challenging for everyone. At this point he will be there at least 2 months. I am so proud of DD and SIL for sticking together for 7 years of Connors life and doing the best they can for him. Their faith is what has kept them together. There is such a high rate of divorce for parents with disabled children. They are oommited to God,eachother and their children. Praise God !! Thank you sisters.. I am letting them know I have you all praying for them and our Connor Bean !!

Kristy, What a handsome boy Conner is! My heart aches for you and your family. This has to be so hard, and with him being non-verbal, he has to be frustrated. I'm sure he knows more than he can communicate. I'm praying for everyone involved that the best will be done for Conner and his family. His Mom and Dad are great parents, and I'm so thankful that they have the Lord in their lives, as I don't know how anyone gets through a day, good or bad without Him! I have a great niece who is 18 and is profoundly autistic. She is also, non verbal and very strong. She is at home with her parents, but is in school 5 days a week. She has learned sign language, it is limited, but she can get her message across. She too loves to dance and swim. I understand your great love for this precious little boy. Grandchildren are such a gift!
I will continue to pray for you all!
hugs and prayers,
Ruth

More prayers for Connor please ! My poor little grandson was taken out of Lake Mary group home on monday. Angi took him straight to the Drs. They admitted him to the hospital where he remains. He was severly dehydrated and had a few bruises and a gash on his chin from a seizure and fall to the floor. He had not been eating as they are trying to teach him to eat with a spoon. His hands are turned and it is hard for him to grasp the spoon. So instead of helping him.. he went without. I am stunned. We are all in shock and never dreamed this would happen. Connor has a hormone problem due to a missing part of his brain. He does not sweat. With out proper hydration and his medication given at the right time his body temp raises. He had a temp of 104 when Angi picked him up. He has been on IV therapy since being admitted. He finally drank 6 OZ of fluid of fluid on his own today. Baby steps to getting him home. Thank you for your prayers sisters !!

Kristy, I will be praying for Connor's physical, mental and even his little spirit.God knows exactly what is wrong. I will be praying that doctors at the hospital will not only have insight for his body, but see something of a diagnosis for his little mind. I pray for wisdom for Connor's parents and all that comes in contact with him. by the way, I will also be praying that anger for the Lake Mary group will not overtake Connor's family. I also pray that Conor's folks will not feel any guilt in having him there. Those things may be natural, but they cloud the answers you all must have. Blessings on YOU Kristy, for taking us on Connor's journey through prayer.

Oh my gosh, that poor little guy! I can't believe this has happened to him! You must all be so heartsick. God bless you all. I just can't imagine what you're all going through, or how Connor, the sweetie, is even processing all of this. God love him. He will be going back home, then? I'll still be praying, Kristy! I'm sure we all will be. Please keep us posted when you can. Hugs - Nini

Thank you so much sisters for your sweet words and your prayers. My little Connor is home safe and sound. He is doing better but is still so tired. We are blessed in the fact that Angi, Connor's Mommy is a pediatric ICU RN. He probably would have had to stay in the hospital longer is she was not so well trained for his needs. A blessing he was born to this family. His Daddy, Jason,is a case manager for adults with disabilities. So they were equipped to take care of our Connor ! I am so glad to report that there are no anger issues toward Lake Mary from the kids. Connor ends up in the hospital too often even at home. They went to Lake Mary and discussed the problems they were seeing and told them it was not acceptable to let Connor go without food while he is trying to learn to eat with spoon. The bruses were from the seizure as was the cut on his chin. I believe they will be taking him back next week. But will be able to go to the facility more frequently and able to check him out and watch for early signs of him having issues again. Praying it all goes well now. I just ache for this little guy that fills my heart with so much joy and love like you can not imagine. He was his Poppy's little man. He sat in the yard when we told Trinity that Poppy was in heaven and stared up in the sky and blew kisses for almost an hour. He understands more than people give him credit for. Sorry... just sharing more about this darling boy !! Hugs to all...

Kristy I have been following along since you started this thread and have been keeping Connor in my prayers. Sometimes I think that children like Connor have a special blessing and understand things that we just can't and never will. I so hope that when he returns to this facility that things will improve.
