Do you have favorite projects for odds and ends of yarn? I have lots of partial skeins left from other projects - one of my resolutions this year is to use up everything I have leftover before I buy anything new (my only exception is stuff bought to make Christmas gifts with) so I have some work to do. I have a couple books with little projects in them but was curious to find out what other people do with their scraps of yarn. What do you do?

Oh and I should mention that I really do not enjoy making dishcloths - I have tried and it doesn't work for me, although I have admired other peoples:) All my leftover yarn is wool so not really suitable for dishcloths either.

I make rugs out of my scrap yarn. 5-6 strands at a time. Just tie on a new color as one ball runs out.
Do what you love, love what you do. |

Afghans are always good for scrap yarns, you can either do a patchwork type style or just continuous knitting/crochet linking colours as you go along. Check out your local library or on line sites for one skein projects. Small projects like mittens are good too and you can use multiple colours for patterns.

Amy, my girlfriend does a scarf, she casts on around 170 stiches and each row or so is a different color she just knits and adds as she runs out. She uses circular needles and goes back and forth Liz

How about fingerless gloves? They take less than a skein and you could use several colors.

I have been using up my stash making sheepskin bottom, crochet and knit slipper socks for newborns and bigger babies. They are addicting!

It's in the Homespun Handknit(or visa versa). I'll know more when I get home. Let me know if you need the pattern. Farmgirl #2350

Hello GracieGreenEyes,
I have lots of scraps. I incorporate them into the Fashion Stylized Chemo Caps that I make for all ages. I make flowers that adorn the hats for Cancer patients from just ordinary hats to Chemo Caps with Fashion and Beauty. It's a great way to smartly use up yarn and share love in your stitches for those battling cancer.

Teresita - do you knit or crochet your flowers? I was thinking about just knitting swatches and then felting them and cutting out flowers to use for decorations for slippers and hats - I like your idea too!!
