Normal temperatures in January here are high 20's - low 30's, today it's mid 40's and I actually went and started some preliminary weeding. Crazy but wonderful, it is so still and peaceful out except for the pheasants. I also discovered my chard is still growing - I love gardens, always a surprise. Amy Grace

amy the weather here has been so here nice too. where is rosalia? i am in bend. are you far away from me? papa tilled the floor in one of my greenhouses. i am going to water it today and plant chard and lettuce. there is no heat. if i can get them sprouted then they may grow as the year warms. if they die then oh well. i used to say its just seed its cheap. well not anymore. the whole seed gmo thing is darn scary. i will be like many others saving seed. last year after a lot of us planted you included we had the RAINS come. from here to kris in ga. we had flooding. well those carrots that washed down hill grew. lol they are in a little patch. even when i turned the 3 boy pigs in they missed the carrots. it takes 2 yrs. for carrots to bloom. so this year i will harvest from last yrs. rain storm 3 yrs out seed, free, my seed. its kinda funny i think. we plan and work and nurture and watch for bugs so much enjoyment out of something so real and right and DARN HARD WORK DID I SAY IT WAS HARD ??? if your chard is growing i am going to check mine. yipee we still have a great day ahead. i have not checked the weather for later. oh i dont care i shall live in the moment. it will be a nice day to have the sun on our backs and a song in our heart. happy days sherrye

Nice weather here too Amy Grace. Was on the run all day yesterday so I plan to get out today and do something. I don't know where to start. Everything is such a mess. This is NOT my favorite time of year. So much to do and so little nice weather. Supposed to be 60 today and high in the 20's by the middle of the week with snow and ice.

Your beautiful weather and weed pulling gave me hope, and made me smile. If I could find a weed in all this snow I would pull it just for fun.

well of course it is still January so now we are expecting an arctic stretch, but....it was nice to get out in the garden for a minute. Sherrye - we are 33 miles south of Spokane. I also discovered that the herbs I planted last summer made it okay, even through the encroachment by the thistles, so I have the start of an herb garden too!! High hopes for this year's garden.
