My best friend Kathy is going to have a kidney biopsy Monday morning the 14th. The doctor found a mass and wants to check it out. She has had cancer and is very depressed about this.

And my step dad just found out he had stage 2 prostate cancer. He will go Tuesday for a bone scan and will find out Thursday if it is in his bones. If not they will do hormone and radiation. He and my mom will be moving up here to their new home and he will take the treatments here.

I know they would so appreciate all the prayers they can get right now. Thank you all so much.

Thank you all so much for the prayers. Kathy was so depressed last night when I went by to bring them some food I had fixed for them. She has been sleeping alot. She just does not want to have to go through all this again. She had her colon, I think, taken out due to rectal cancer almost 5 years ago. She has a colostomy bag now. And she has lots of other problems too. I just hate that she may be facing more treatments in the near future. And it's like she has given up. No fight left in her right now. So thank you so much for your prayers. She will need lots of strength if she is going to make it through this.

I will know more this afternoon so will post when I find out.

And hey Marcy! So good to see you here. I sent you an email. She sent me the most beautiful warm shawl she had knitted for me. I love it.

Keep us posted, Kris. I'm so sorry for both your step dad and your friend. It must be so difficult on her, right now, to think about the future and what it "may" hold. Let's pray that it's something that can be overcome.

Well, Kathy called this morning from home about 10. I thought that was awfully qiuck to be home already. But they had to reshedule. She was already hooked up to the IV and ready to go in. They said they had not gotten the results from her urine test from last Wed. yet. Isn't that crazy? She was so upset. But then decided that it was for the best probably because she was really not feeling her best at all. So she has to wait 2 more days again. I feel so bad for her. But I will let y'all know when I do hear anything. Thanks so much again.

I'll be praying, too Kris. I know how hard that wait is, the poor thing must be so overwhelmed right now. And your stepdad, too. I'm so glad they'll be nearer to you - you will be a great comfort to them. God bless you all. Hugs - Nini

Her name is Kathy. I met her not too lnog after I came here so at least 30 years. She's more like a sister to me. We are very close. Total opposites but still very close. I guess that's why. And she has gone through some major surgeries in the last 10 years. She actually said once that if her cancer ever came back she'd not have any treatments done. It's just too much for her. It's horrible to have to watch her go through this again after the last time.

Now my step dad is another story. He's like laughing it off right now. He said that's the only way he can handle it. And he really hasn't gone through the radiation yet. I hope that's all they have to do.

Hi Kris, Just saw this post and I definately will be praying for your dad and your friend Kathy. We need to pray especially for her mind set. I just don't want her to give up - she has much to live for, but I can understand how she must feel. Is she around your age?
Please keep us posted.
Hugs and prayers,
Ruth

Ruth, kathy is 58 so a little older than me. But we had kids about the same age. Yes, I am worried about the way she doesn't want to fight this anymore. I keep trying to get her to go out more but she just wants to stay at home. Sometimes she doesn't even get dressed. It's really bad. She had several thing wrong with her like bad knees. She's very over wheight and has diabetes and she's just a mess. But I can't even think about her not being here. So I try all I can to keep her going.

Thanks for your prayers.

My step dad just called. He said his bones are clean! So now he will just have to have the radiation-hormone treatments. He was very relieved to know this. The tech doing the bone scan told him. So now on to the next step. I am very thankful to God for hearing all these prayers.

Deborah, that's a fantastic idea. I know that would cheer her up and mybe help her to see that there are so many people praying for her and encouraging her to not give up.

So if anyone would like to send kathy a card please email me and I will send you her address. Thanks, Deborah, for suggesting this.

Ok, yet another update about kathy. Just got off the phone with her. She said her doctor called today and has cancelled the appt for in the morning. The urine test came back and there is an excessive amount of protein. He said that means it's a different kind of cancer, whatever that means. So he is going to find a specialist and make an appt. for her to go see them. I hope it's soon. She is so frustrated right now. And this is just more waiting now.

Oh Kris, I have been through cancers of various kinds with many of my kin and the waiting is almost the worse and the stress of not knowing can be so detrimental to body and mind. I just found this thread and am so very thankful that your step dad's bones are cancer free! God bless him and sending much healing love and energy his way too.

Kathy is going through such a heart rending time with not knowing what is going on and what will come next. My heart truly goes out to her and I'm sending much healing love and comfort her way too.

Thank you, Kris, for letting us know that these two dear people need love, healing thoughts, hope and prayers, I'll keep looking for your next post. You take care too *hug*

I went to see Kathy this afternoon. The doctor called with an appt. for March 3rd. with a specialist. She also has called and requested the doctor call her. She is under such emotional stress. She needs some answers from him. So I hope he calls her back soon. She's just miserable right now. And you're right, Annika, the waiting is the worst thing for her at this time. ANd the not knowing what it is. SO I hope he has the decency to call her and talk to her and ease her mind a bit.

Thank you all so much for all the prayers and good thoughts for her. I appreciate it so much. I'll keep y'all posted as I hear.
