My father's worst fear was always going to a n.home.He was 94 when he broke his hip and his dr. put him in one.I had a sister who needed a home and i told her to take his home in exchange for taking care of him.By the time she told him about her plan he had been in the home for about 4 weeks and he agreed. But by the time she got back to his room to say she had everything taken care of ,he had changed his mind.He said , "I like it here .I am my own boss ,I watch t.v. any time I want, and they bring me my meals in bed." My sister was stunned .He lived about a year and seamed contented .I think the secret is a family that visit's often and makes them feel loved and protected .God bless the people who visit those who don't have any loved ones .What a wonderful gift . |

So, tomorrow @ 6am I am to arrive at the hospital and they will get me started to be induced.
Today we found out that our offer on the house was accepted. We close on it on Aug 10th.
Right now my sister is living at my mom's house and as soon as we are out of here they will both be moving here (my sister's home). We are thankful to get the house closing as quickly as we could.
What else?? Guess that's about it. We won't have money for my husband's evening classes this fall. He is still trying to finish up a bachelor's degree. But, oh well. We will have our 4th child, a new home, my mom will live with my sister. Two of our children start school this August.
My mom has said maybe four words to me since my sister has been here. Weird huh? Maybe the baby coming will cheer her up. I hope so. We think that my mom's mini-stroke has changed her personality a bit. And she won't take her anti-anxiety pills. Sigh. I had it all wrong. I thought that once my dad went into a nursing home that my mom's health would be better, instead it has taken a real turn for the worse. It's as if she was just holding herself together in order to take care of my dad. She has had a lot of stress about the future lately that probably has taken it's toll.
I'll let you know about the baby coming. Pray for a good delivery and that my other 3 children will not be a burden to my family to watch and that my children will be cheerful and well-behaved while they are being watched. Sometimes they can have huge melt-downs when they are off their routine and I just wouldn't want that to happen while they are under someone else's care.

Antother update:
My sister says exactly the same things about taking care of my mom these days as what my mom had said whenever she was taking care of my dad....
It's pretty rough on my sister. She can't tell if my mom is faking or really needs things. My mom tells her what to do alllllll the time. And in minute detail. She only agreed to Home Health Care coming out 2X per week. She refuses to take her anti-anxiety pills as they make her "naseated." Then she claimed that she couldn't sleep the night she took it. But, my sister says she got the most sleep that she has gotten since they've been taking care of her. The nurse was going to ask the dr. to give her a different one to try.
The other night she claimed she was 'hemmoraging' but it was just a cracked lip.
Oh, my. I think my sister is going to put her in a nursing home. This will be a total nightmare. Hopefull they can get her to take the anti-anxiety stuff. She has needed some of it since I was a child.

Latest update,
My sister took my mother to see a pulmonologist yesterday. The dr. was very concerned for my mother and wanted her admitted immediately. This was very upsetting to my mother. The dr. confirmed that my mother was having anxiety and panic disorder so she is having my mom's heart work-up done and also psych evaluation. Finally, someone who is going to provide some real help.
Keep praying for her. She isn't going to like this at all. She was very angry with my sister for leaving her at the hospital and wanted to go home. Pray for my sister too!
Thanks,

I am sorry that your mom has taken a turn for the worse. I will be praying for her and for your family. Will you still be able to close on your house? Try to think and be positive even when it is hard. ((hugs))

Thank you.
We close on our house tomorrow. Moving is stressful enough, but I'm just wackadoo'd out today with thinking about my mom. Not anything I can do for her, but I'm praying for her. And I am trying to be positive. I hope that she will get better.

Have you had the baby yet? Hope everything is calming down some. It's hard on everyone when there are this many big life stressors all at once, but hopefully it will work out. It sounds like you and your sister both need some hugs.
My grandmother was so worried about going into a home but loved it once she was there. Of course, Dad spent every morning with her and took her out to lunch each day, which meant he retired early to do this, but since he was an only child, he wanted to do this for her. It worked out well and eventually after she was gone, my dad got to spend time on himself.

Oh yeah, Erin. We had him 3 weeks ago--July 17th. He's doing well. In the Parenting and Farm Kids area you can see pics of him under "Tada! We had our baby!"
They put an oxygen mask on my mom's face just a little while ago and she did not like that. They had to restrain her hands and my niece said they gave her something to help her relax. She doesn't like those things on her face, they make her uncomfortable.
Oh, I hope she does better. I wish I could do something for her. I hope that she does okay tonight!!!!

Rebecca, I know we are all praying for you, your sister and your mother. Maybe it's good they gave her something to relax her, that way they can help her without upsetting her very much. You hang in there. Your life is very busy now but I know you will make it through. I wish I could get on a magic carpet and wisk away to OK to help you out. Remember to take care of yourself too. I will be thinking of you all night. Kelly |

I went to see my mom. Her vitals have crashed 2 or 3 times since last night. They gave her medication to temporarily keep her vitals up, but they are going to gradually take her off of it.
I got to see her today around lunch time and I took my baby with me to see her.
She has had another stroke, which actually was a blessing. I'll explain. She was very depressed and in a lot of pain and anxious all the time. Now, since her stroke, she is talkative, happy, in great spirits. Her mind seems to have flipped a switch. My sister and I haven't seen her this way in years.
So, her heart has had quite a bit of stress and they are taking her off the medication. So, she more than likely won't make it. But, it was such a sweet time to see her, see her like she used to be with her silly sense of humor and loving attitude and her real self.
Now, I feel like I have a sense of peace and will be able to let her go. Whereas before it was so hard. She wasn't herself at all. I am so thankful that we get this special day.
I put my baby on her lap and she was so happy to see him and to talk to him and show him off so proudly. And she told him she loved him and me and all my other children.
She was completely without worry or anxiety. Just seeing her that way was such a relief.
My sister stayed most of the night with her last night and wasn't sure that she was going to make it. I think God has truly given us such a gift today in that we were able to spend time with her just like we used to. It was almost like someone had cast a magic spell. I didn't want to go, but my baby was getting tired and fussy and I had to go sign papers for the house. And I wasn't even excited about buying a house, I was more caught up with how it went with my mom and the rest of me was just numb.
We are going to gather up a few things to take to our house tonight and then we have to go buy a new mattress. I am sure we will stop by this evening to see my mom. That's going to be really hard to see her once the medication has been taken away. But, I don't want her to be in any unnecessary pain or suffering, so I know that God will take her in His own time.
The only sad thing is that my sister in Ohio and my brother in Nevada won't have gotten to see her. But, that can't be helped.
Anyway, I will let you know how it goes.

Rebecca, I can't tell you how happy I am that God blessed you with such a day. And you took such advantage of it, good for you. I wish you and your mom peace and love. Not only did you enjoy your day but I'm sure your mom enjoyed it just as much. She will remember holding that baby always. Don't worry about the house. Right now it is just a house, wood and paint. It will not be a home until you and your family have moved in and you fill it with joy. It will wait for you to do that, no matter how long that takes. Take care of yourself. Love, Kelly |

Rebecca, I am glad that your mom has had this change to where she is more like you remember her to be, and that you got this special time with her. I know that you'll cherish that memory. Going through these times seeing a family member waning in health is very difficult. We wish for you strength and peace during this time. To both you, your mom, and other family members. Sincerely, Tina and family

Hi Rebecca,
My prayers are with you and your family - I hope your sister will be able to spend time with your mom. I had tears in my eyes reading your description of the wonderful visit you had with her. Isn't that an amazing memory to carry with you? I hope you have a chance to spend more time with her. Take care, OK?

| Dear Rebecca: I have asked the Lord to keep you and your entire family safe. Keep loving one another. Count your many blessings. And remember that you have people praying for you who you don't even know. That's the power of prayer. We may not know you...but our Lord does! Susan |
