Do any of you read Susan Branch's Blog? She had cute farm-theme today, and she ended with the following poem. Thought you might like it:

Let the wealthy and great
Roll in splender and state,
I envy them not, I declare it.
I eat my own lamb,
My own chickens and ham;
I shear my own fleece and I wear it.
I have lawns; I have bowers;
I have fruits; I have flowers;
The lark is my morning alarmer.
So you jolly boys now,
Here’s God bless the plough,
Long life and success to the farmer!

She attributes the quote as being in one of her Beatrix Potter books.

Here's the original blog entry, you'll love her artwork. Cheers me up every day! http://www.susanbranch.com/archives/1093?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+SusanBranchBlog+%28Susan+Branch+Blog%29

What a wonderful poem. I will read it to my farmer SIL when I arrive there tomorrow. I love Susan Branch and her artwork and have liked/used her stuff for years. I am a "city kid" but have learned so much from my farmer SIL. I respect what he does so much. Thanks for sharing with us. Joey
