All- Be sure you order the Flate Rate Regional Rate A and B size boxes too because they ship \cheaper than the regular flat rate boxes. REgional Rate boxes have a 15 pound limit and the regular flat rate boxes have a 70 pound limit. I find that most of the things I ship are always less than 15 pounds and the Regional Rate boxes ship cheaper!! They are free from USPS just like the regular flat rate and when you do click and ship, you just select regional rate A or B in the drop down when it asks you what you want. The Regional Rate boxes were new this past January and I learned about them from ebay. One thing to note: if you go to a post office to have them print you a postage, they only go by weight because their computers do not carry the rates for regional rate boxes. You have to do the home click and ship to get your postage printed. It tells you that in the fine print but I did not realize that until I went to the postal window and nobody knew what a regional rate box was. But this is definitely a cheaper way to ship for our crafty or barter items that require a box and meet the weight limit!

Thanks for sharing that info Winnie. Especially about the regional rate and that it has to be click and ship!
Always good to get the latest info!

Yes, the regional rate boxes are priority mail and ship just as fast. The best way to think about what to use is this. If it weighs less than 1 pound, then use priority mail envelopes or better yet, first class mail(for flat items). Above a pound, all priority mail goes by weight and starts with a minimum of 4.95. The flat rate boxes are most efficient if you have heavy stuff because you get one flat rate up to the weight limit. The regional rate boxes come in several useful sizes and ship for less. The real convenient part of either flat rate or regional rate is that you can use click and ship. But unless you need to ship priority mail, it might be a lot cheaper to use parcel post or first class mail which takes a few days longer. It all depends on weight. For my ebay stuff, most everyone wants priority mail so I tend to use regional rate boxes for everything. I hope this helps answer all the questions. Ebay has taught me alot about doing shipping.

Another FYI girls is if you print your own postage through click n ship you receive a slight discount on postage and free delivery confirmation. Every little savings helps. The flat rate padded envelopes are also great for small not so fragile items. Only $4.95 postage!
I have a personal stake, I'm a 24 year postal employee! Thanks for the support!

I like the click n ship, I started using them when I started bartering on here. It is nice to be able to print and pay from home and have the carrier picking them up from my house. I don't have to waste money on gas going to the PO and I save 15% off the shipping on the priority packages. I got my sample of flat rate boxes today and should get my priority boxes and envelopes and regional boxes soon.

Winnie, or any farmgirl who knows...what is the difference between the regional A and B? I know you said it had to be under 15# Are A & B two different sizes?

the B size is bigger then A-----I ordered the deeper boxes and unfortunately was given the less deep boxes. I hate waste , so I will settle for these....and the nice thing about this is its so easy and cheap.

Have fun----the only mistake I made is I covered the barcode with scotch tape........live and learn....it tells you not to.

I noticed that they have adhesive label pages for your computer from usps. They are 9.00 for 25 sheets, I believe...requiring no tape and chance of covering the bar code. Hugs, Mary
