They say the third time is a charm, right? My husband and I are going in for a meeting with a new mortgage person tomorrow to see about starting the process AGAIN to get into a new place. The last guy we worked with dragged us through the dirt for six months and was extremely untrustworthy. This new mortgage person is a friend of our realtor (our realtor is actually a long time friend of the family) and is probably who we should have went with in the first place. In any event, we are anxious to start working with this more reliable wonderful fantastic mortgage person (right?????) and are crossing our fingers that its the beginning of the end of shopping for the farm! Anyone who wants to join in finger crossing and sending good thoughts our way would be welcome to do so! :)
(And of course, I'll update all you farmgirls after the meeting and let you know what we find out!)

Amy, we bought our country retirement home early November of last year. They diddled around and drove us crazy for over three months before we finally closed. And the title people said we got off easy!!! Anyway, I understand what you're going through. Keeping my fingers crossed and saying a prayer that all goes smoothly and quickly this time.

Thanks farmgirls. We really appreciate the thoughts. Yesterday our meeting went really well. We immediately liked John, this new mortgage person and had a GREAT conversation with him. Kind of one of those people you could see coming to a BBQ at the house after you finally move in? ;) Anyhow, he's worked at the place for 13 years and really knows what he's talking about.
We went there hoping to find out the possibility of getting into the first house we originally were supposed to close on back in May, but couldn't because USDA RD loans wouldn't do a loan on a property with a pole barn. John said our last loan person should have known that because that has ALWAYS been the rule with RD. Anyhow so John is doing some checking on putting this house through on an FHA loan. Because my husband (thankfully) saved the appraisal from that first house (I burned my copy because I was so mad when it fell through 3 days before closing!)John looked at it and said from what he could tell there shouldn't be an issue with that particular property with a pole barn (because the comparables in the area on the appraisal support it). Anyhow, that was really exciting for us because THAT is the house we would go back to in a heartbeat if we could. It's still for sale. :) So right now he's doing some checking on a few things and hopefully in a few days he will have some answers for us on the financing end of things (since we're in kind of a funky situation) and we can get this process started again!
I'm just thankful to have finally been paired up with a loan person who knows what he's talking about. Hopefully within the next three months I'll be posting that we're finally in a new farm! :)

Amy - you've been in my prayers and will continue to be. I check in occasionally, without posting, just to see if something wonderful is happening. I pray it will - and soon. Blessings to you and your husband.
