Ladies I have been struggling for the past year and my positive side is all but gone. I give thanks each day that I wake but I admit the last month I have even been struggling with seeing that as a good thing. I have never in my life felt like I could not handle things and trust me over the years it has been a lot but even thru daily prayers and meditation the overwhelming facts of my life just make the sadness too much to dismiss... I have given so much for so long and I feel there just is not anything left. I thank you for letting me share - my heart is heavy and mind weary.

Like many the financial issues have become crushing - I worry so not for me but for those four legged furry family members who are in my care. Sales have been way down, expenses going thru the roof of which I can not control - I have done without for so long but now it is an issue of being able to feed my sweet one and also keep our home.. I have many very old animals that need special care and with folks hurting as much as I no one is purchasing animals or the items I have created. With all the damage that happened in that horrible storm I am still trying to get repairs done in the price the insurance will cover. It just seems like the flood gates have opened. I understanding being tested and if it wasn't that I am more worried about my animals then what happens to me I think I could handle it better.... Sorry for being so down but this is the first time I have opened up to anyone about this - I really have never felt like I could not handle things...

Grace, I am so sorry you are going through this overwhelming time in your life. But I am sure things have been worse. I know they have for me. I know how you feel. But just know that this too shall pass and a brighter day is coming for you. You will get through this. It may not be tomorrow but it will get better. I think so many people are having a hard financial time right now that they are pinching pennies so hard. I hope times will get better soon. Sometimes I wonder though. My hubby drives a truck and there are so many new laws now that he can hardly drive without having to stop and take 10 hour breaks and 32 hour breaks. It's killing us here.
But being by yourself and doing all this on your own can seem like you are sinking in quick sand. I can't tell you how many times I have felt like that. But through God's grace and help, we do get through. And you will too. You are a strong woman and a good person.
I will be thinking of you and praying for you. I know you will come out of this a much better person.
Hugs and prayers.
Kris

My heart hurts for you Grace. Concern for our animals is as real as our concern for other loved and cherished family members. This economy is hurting us all. Things are hard everywhere. Not that that is any comfort! Have you tried giving your insurance company the bids you have received to fix the damage and explaining that you think they may have underestimated the extent of damage? We had to do that after the floods May 2010. They sent someone back out and agreed to adjust the amount they would cover. Just a thought that might help. We were sure glad we did. It didn't put us back in the black but it sure helped. You have all your sisters here to love and support you. I'll send prayers and light your way. Hugs on you, Connie

My heart hurts for you. What a horrible situation. Sometimes it is hard, if not impossible, to stay positive. Guess what? It is OK not to feel positive all the time. Allow yourself time to share your worry - we are all here to help ease it in any way we can. I am sending love and light your way and lots of ((HUGS)).

Grace--you give so much to others, sometimes it's hard to remember to give to yourself. You WILL get through this. Just breathe--when you breathe in, say "Thou art with me" and when you breathe out, say "Thank you". It really works. I am praying for you and all your beloved animal friends. Cindy

I am so sorry for the hard time you are having.and just know you are not alone. just hang in there and think positive and don't take no for an answer. and pull all of your resources together. if they are not selling try to barter just make phone calls and see, you never know. I did today i made 4 or 5 phone calls, to local farms to barter with i had to leave a message on each machine but before the end of the day I had a call back (we are bartering my husbands construction skills to farms who raise meat, milk, veggies, fruit or grain).I have done home made items in exchange for plants. If it is just one more thing that we don't have to buy and we can barter, it is a little extra you can put to a bill! more & more people would rather barter than have to spend money, it is just the economy. inch by inch you will get there. and with the animals you have i would call the companies and see if they could send you coupons, it just never hurts. you can also call your local farm extension and see if they have any ideas....you can't fail if yo don't even try......it is just time to think out of the box. good luck & my prayers and good thoughts are with you,

THANK YOU SO MUCH - You ladies have been incredible and so kind. I can not put into words how much your loving words mean to me.. I just knew that you would be my soft spot to share this with. I have been holding up everyone for so long around here that I forgot to care for myself.. I have been on my own since I was 16 and have never really had someone in my corner. I speak the same words to others that you shared with me today but for whatever reason of late I can not speak them to me. You all have been more then kind and loving - I count you as my blessings and sisters...
I remind myself that there is so much to be thankful in my life and those things out of my control I need to lay it down and believe the universe has a plan.
I thank you also for your thoughts on thinking out of the box - I guess I was standing like a deer in the head lights and all that gets someone is ran over. As I always say "Don't be a Dart Board be a Moving Target"
Hugs and prayers to you all and I wished I had the words to really express how much this has helped..Love, Light and Prayers right back at you..

My gosh just when I thought I was seeing going to see a positive light I started crying (something that is not my norm) and for hours I could not stop... I tried to pray and tried to mediate but all I could do was cry. This is just so not like me. I can not seem to find my center - is there something wrong with me???

Grace, crying is a safety valve....that's why we do it!!! Perhaps you need to do it more often?? There is nothing wrong with you, there is something RIGHT with you! I know that we just pull up our socks and get on with things but wisha girl, you have had more than your fair share this spring and I have often shook my head and wondered how you were still upright much less putting one foot in front of the other. Just think of crying as insurance against physical illness. If we don't find a release for our stress, we store it in our bodies and eventually it will make us sick so we have to let ourselves finally rest. Just go with it - feel the feelings and get it over with. Sometimes putting it off just makes the feelings harder to deal with down the road. Just look at it as a release and not as weakness. Everything will be fine, you'll see.
Blessings, Sheri

Oh Grace Sheri is right! Better to let it out. Perhaps all the love and support of these wonderful farmgirls broke the dam? I'd say that is a normal and good reaction! You probably have an emotional hangover after so much crying but that is normal too. It will clear and you will feel better than you have in a while. Just be easy on yourself today. Hugs on you, Connie

Grace -
Here's a couple of my favorite quotes about tears - hope you may find something in them that encourages you:
"Tears are God's gift to us - our holy water; they heal us as they flow"
"The cure for everything is salt water - either sweat or tears or the sea"
"Let your tears come - let them water your soul"
Big hugs, Luanne

Grace - sometimes crying can be a way of cleansing our souls, getting rid of all the messiness, and making a fresh, clean space for the Lord to move in. He becomes greatest in our weakness, never forget that. All the girls have given you so much wonderful advice - such blessings our farmgirl sisters are! The only thing I can add is that whenever I get to the end of my rope, I just let go and let God. That may sound so trite, but it isn't meant to be. We all have times where we come to the point we realize we just can't do it on our own, and that's a very exciting place to be when we turn to Him and watch Him take over. He's right there with you, and He loves you. Try not to focus on the things you can't accomplish and all the scarey stuff that goes along with that, but rather focus on seeing Him working in the midst of it all. Make sure to remind Him over and over and over that you're watching for Him - and thank Him that you can! Thank Him for the deposit of faith He has put in your heart, and thank Him for giving you the insight to see that deposit multiply! I'm very much looking forward to hearing all about the miracles you receive. Remember, it's always darkest before the dawn. But when that light begins to seep through the cracks and bust open the wall - OH! There's nothing like it! Love and grace and peace and blessings to you, sister! I'm praying for you! Hugs - Nini

Remember that he catches every tear you shed. He will always be there to support you and sometimes we just have to cry it all out. May you be richly blessed with all the blessings of Abraham. May the windows of heaven open and shower goodness, light and provision all over you.

Grace, tears are cleansing, whether it is like you or not. you may have held on so long that your dike just couldn't hold on anymore. I have no words of wisdom, but I am a believer that God is always close by and we just need to ask for His help. There is a saying that when God closes a door, He opens the window. Maybe you need to just let go ... and give yourself a break. Maybe something good will happen very soon.

Grace I am so sorry you are going through this and you have to do it alone without a partner to share the burden, it is so hard to have to do it all by yourself. How you put your animals before yourself shows your true heart, I read between the lines how this is what worries you the most. But, keep crying as you do not want to bottle it all up and make yourself sick, you need the release and maybe a hot bubble bath:-) Sometimes that really helps me to let go and just sit, relax and think surrounded by bubble. Sometimes things become clearer and you may think of a solution or a thought that you had not come up with before. Try it. Know that you are in my thoughts, heart and prayers and I wish so much there were something I could do for you. Many hugs going across the miles to you. Farmgirl Hugs, Debbie

Prayers going your way Grace.
But thinking pro-actively, Is there any chance you have some sort of medication or changes in diet affecting your delicate hormonal balances? I know of some common medicines that really string me out, and not eating much in the way of carbs makes me real cranky, tired and messes with my attention span. Lack of restful sleep could also be doing it.

Good Morning Ladies - First I want to thank you for getting me thru the crying day and I am sure there is much more to come. Since I was 17 I took care of my dying father then my critically ill husband who passed and then I had the task of raising my two small sons and finding a way to stay with them and make a living hence the farm. I have never been one to cry but I guess I am long over due.. I do not take any med's and eat a organic none processed food life. I do know that I have not had much of an appetite and sleep is never available. I promise I will let it out because I too believe that your emotions can effect your health.
Wednesday was very strange - One of the three roofers arrived and within ten mintues he was in tears. He explained how this farm had such great energy that he felt as he drove down the driveway that it rose up to greet him with love and concern. We talked for two hours about how I made the choice to be here and I believe life is only worth living if you do your passion. Heck, me who was a crying mess what trying to help someone who was lost, so sad and full of tears..
By the time (6pm) the other roofer came the skies turned black, sheets of rain (Yeah) and horrible winds again. The winds almost took him off the roof - he was hanging on to the smoke stack for dear life. So I have more things to find and repair today thanks to Mother Nature.
I read and read again all your kind words and suggestions - I will be doing that each day to feel close to you all. This morning while reading your posts again I looked out my office window and there on the driveway was my Orphan Doe and her offspring from last year. They nibbled on some mint and I took a few snaps which I will post on the blog today. I remembered her shakey start here several years back and the love, joy and friendship we have shared together. I am blessed to have such amazing events in my life and I am SO BLESSED to have my sisters here caring about me. You just have no idea how your words, prayers and kindness mean to me... Oh there goes the water works again...
