Hey ladies! I have a question and I know some of you out there have this same problem and could maybe help me find an answer. Since the birth of my last child a year ago, I have stayed rather curvy, and since I was curvy before, a little extra curve makes it near impossible for me to find clothes/ patterns that work for me. The problem is my chest, which has grown to a 38 H and my stomach never really snapped back, so it's kind of saggy and poochy. I can wear a size 18 to comfortably accommodate my changed body, but that makes it hard to find clothes that I love. What I'd really love to find is a simple 1940s shirt dress style pattern ( think Waltons mom) that I could use to make a bunch of dresses. Has anyone come across anything like that? Help!

i would look in the costume section of the pattern books at your favorite fabric store. when choosing a specific pattern, look for one with a slightly elevated waistline to camoflauge the little baby belly...it works wonders.

Elizabeth Lee Designs patterns are for maternity and/or nursing, but often very classic patterns. They are also cut for a D cup.

For true vintage patterns they don't go up in size very much. And most are designed for a B cup, so you most likely will have to do a FBA. Full bust adjustment. For more info I would peruse patternreview.com forums, I believe there is a vintage forum even. And I know for sure there is at least one VERY curvy woman there that does vintage patterns up great. She grades them up to her size.
