Thank you all for your wishes. It is times like this that I have a tiny regret that I stepped out of early retirement for a part time job!
However, I do enjoy my job at the newspaper, and learning about our community in northern Kentucky.

Thank you so much Dawn! The soap smells lovely and spa items will be used this Sunday (this weekend will be a busy time for me). I can't wait to brew the tea and sit down with my Dr. Who books for an afternoon of relaxing.

Enjoy your spa time and Dr. Who books. We are big fans of Dr. Who here. I'm glad the candle didn't melt! I had planned on sending two organic dark chocolate candy bars, but the lady at the post office reminded me they would melt in this heatwave! I'm glad I didn't send them since we are 100+ heat index here in the Chicago area!

Isn't it awful? This weekend is Riverfest Regatta in Augusta KY and a pet parade is scheduled at 11 am. Not for my little hot dogs! I plan to find a wagon for next year and train them to sit in it.

Dear Farmgirl Sisters, I want to thank all of you for the kind wishes and goodies sent this month. As July Farmgirl of the Month, I informed folks I met about MJF and the fellowship we share.
For the August Farmgirl of the Month I nominate someone who has a heart for animals and kind words for her fellow Farmgirls - HollerGirl56!

Whoop, Whoop!! I am delighted that our Barbara, HollerGirl56, is our August FGOTM!!! Great choice Vanessa and wonderful to recognize a Farmgirl who has given much time and thoughtful sharing to our community here at MJF!!

A big congratulations and happy August FGOTM, Barbara!!! Enjoy your special time!!

Vanessa, I am so happy that you too had a great month as our July FGOTM!!

I personally love the FGOTM designation because we all get to share in the fun of honoring a person who has helped others feel such a part of MJF. We are a unique community here and there are many voices all sharing ideas, support, and helping us all enjoy our friendships we develop together.

Thanks for all the congrats. I feel both honored and embarrassed. And I also feel I do not deserve to be farm girl of the month as I really don't do anything special but chores and animal tending---no great talents do I possess or nothing exciting do I do. I got up at 3:30 this morning and got my husband off to work and then I sat down and read every one of the FGOTM posts. And I must say I feel like a bigger ass than my two bad boy donkeys. I did not know I should get on and congratulate people---I just thought it was a private thing for special farmgirls to talk to each other and I didn't even look at it but once. But if Vanessa chose me for my love of animals---then I do deserve it---LOL. This summer I raised a fawn whose mother got killed near my friends house---it was very weak and could not even stand up. I had it six weeks and it was like having a child to care for and taught me how hard real moms have it. I never dreamed how much that fawn and I would love each other---it even went to the bathroom on a towel and never used the floor. I could not believe it. We took it ninety miles north and put it in rehab at a licensed wildlife rehab. I got to touch baby bears and they would lick your hand. A great experience. As soon as the deer was gone, I started baby sitting my cousins yorkie for two weeks. The most tedious part was having to be so careful of open doors and the dogs getting in and eating the fawn or the yorkie. June and July flew by and I could not get all my gardening done or much outdoor painting done. I must treasure and use well what time I have left of it. Being farmgirl of the month makes me happy and that happiness will give me energy to get back to work. Even though my mouth might seem large in my posts at times---I am very quiet and unassuming---I find it hard to accept this honor of FGOTM as I Find it hard when people are nice to me as I was raised without much encouragement and lots of criticism. It is easy for me to be kind to others and hard for me to accept kindness---but thanks to all of you for your kind words. I always enjoy your posts and I feel like I have friends even though I am stuck in the holler. And even though I say I am a hillbilly---I really have little hillbilly ideas---at least new hillbilly ideas. I do have old hillbilly ideas I learned from my grandparents---honorable hillbilly traits. THANK YOU SO MUCH VANESSA!!!!!!!!!!

You got up at 3:30? Wow, that is true love and dedication. Let me reassure you - you do deserve this recognition, just like that fawn needed someone to care for it.
