Well I finally did it-sent an email to my supervisor letting me know that I quit as of today. Meaning I am for the moment, self employed. The reality hasn't hit home yet. Our mailman surprised me yesterday asking me if I would teach his 16 yr old daughter guitar. I'ts not a done deal yet,but I took this as a sign. I want to thank all those who sent positive thoughts and prayers my way, The Lady continues to guide me..... BTW my supervisor's response was "Thanks for letting me know". That's all she had to say......after 9 years of my being there.
It feels good to have finally arrived at the moment I have desired since I was in high school-almost 49 now,but better late than never!

Congrats!! Isn't it nice to not have to answer to anyone but yourself? It's hard work, but you'll get there!

Well, congrats!! Yeah, it's always nice to know you're a valued employee, eh?? I once quit a trucking company, already had another job and had to go NOW. I sent a Qualcom message to my driver manager that I had to quit, had cleaned their truck out, washed it, parked it in their lot, keys are under the hood, yada, yada. His answer?? "Okay." Oh, well, I went on to bigger and better things!

Good for you!!! Hopefully that will help the stress level and you will be successful teaching music lessons. Sounds like a good thing to do..

Yes,I was a little amazed at the supervisor's response. I did get an email from main manager, saying she was sorry to see me go,and this was the first she had heard of the problems I had mentioned in my email. I'm thinking positive,Dad has been supportive, tho he's mentioning about getting "A good job" I'm telling him I'm burned out on working for others, and I'd make more teaching music than what I'd get working for someone else.

Congrats for taking that step! I can't believe that your supervisor didn't say more than that...frustrating to give someplace your all and in the end feel like they wouldn't know if you were gone or not. You did the right thing....now on to those guitar lessons!!
