Lori, how exciting! Congratulations!!! Do you have any idea as to the theme? June is such a lovely time of year--Spring is still in bloom. I'd be thinking birds, bees, nature, but that's me. Does she have a favorite flower? What about seed packets that are personalized with the bride and grooms name, a lovely hand stamp and the date of the ceremony?

They are having it outdoors...and it is going to on the lake, she wants to have fish for the centerpieces and that scares me a tad...I don't want to be cleaning up betas at midnight! But it is her wedding and I want it to be everything she wants...but with a tight budget.. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the idea with the seeds!

Well, it's early on...the fish thing may change :) I think I might have changed my mind a "couple" of times when it came to the reception. I've been to a reception with fish as centerpieces and I thought, "what will they do with these poor babies afterwards?"
Or, since it's near a lake, you could give something fishy related--like maybe recipe card for crab cakes and an envelope of premeasured spices so that the guest just supplies the crab and mayo? The card could read the date and the couple's names. Or, cellophane bags of red Swedish Fish with a cute hang tag and ribbon--that's totally budget friendly!

Or, fish shaped cookies that you make and put into bags with hang tag and raffia to tie. That's a lot of work, though, especially when you're going to be doing and worrying about everything else. That's when I'd enlist the help of close friends!!!

Here is a sight one of my friends found, she got several small favors for her wedding. There is beau coup (a lot) of things to choose from. Enjoy looking! Oh, one of my favorites, and it was a big hit at my friends wedding, was the mini personalized honey jars. So cute! Marly http://www.beau-coup.com/most-popular-wedding-favors.htm

Lori, how exciting!! I loved working on my daughter's wedding. We used tins shaped like hearts. Here is the website: http://wedding-supplies.efavormart.com/search?w=tins I put personalized candy in each tin and then tied with a ribbon. But you could fill with those Pepperidge Farm fish shaped crackers and that would be cute. For personalized candy you can go to the M&M website and there is a link where you can order them in the wedding colors with the names of the bride and groom on them.

That's a great idea with the goldfish, Marybeth--and now they have the rainbow colored ones, so you could get a whole bunch and do multiple colored baggies. Too cute!

Congrats! What about having scallop shells with the guests name on them as place savers where the guests are eating. You could also have the bride and grooms name and wedding date on it as well. I'm not quite sure how you would do this. But it would be a good idea.

My daughter was married in June and we had a friend make cotton candy which we put in cellophane bags. The label was a thank you from the bride and groom with the date.

I didn't get to finish what I wanted to say because dh needed me to help put pistons in the irrigation pump. Ended up having our blueberry fresh pack buyer showing up to pick up his load of berries, so I ended up helping load instead. Anyway, when I got married, I picked up some votive candles and wrapped them in toulle that matched my colors (bugundy and white) and stuck a small paper on them with our names and wedding date. Regarding the fish...my mom and dad went to a wedding where the betas were the favor. Mom, being the horder that she can be at times, took 2. The fish out lived the marriage, I believe. Too funny.

Some really neat ideas . I've been to a few weddings, and hardly remember the favors lol! But I'll share what I remember. My sister's & my brother's weddings...I don't remember, honestly. Ummm...yah. I'm coming up blank. Sorry. I think for my sister's wedding, I probably helped in doing it, but I can't remember what we did. For my best friend in NS, they had little white spruce trees wrapped in burlap (mine made it home and through the winter...but then my brother ran over it with the lawn mower ). For my 2 cousins weddings last year, one had a shell shaped cookie cutter with a cookie recipe attached. The other one had little candies wrapped in tulle & tied with orange & black ribbon. I think that's all I remember. Good luck doing it all!

I did both of my daughter's weddings both which were outside. One in March and a year later the other in October. Our center peices were the favors. My first daughter's wedding in March we used clear glass container that had a scalloped rim and used sheer black and white ribbon and I made some heart shaped cookies with their names and date on it. Put them in the container (got a case at gardenridge) and placed them at the table settings. My second daughter's wedding a fall and made fall centerpeices with silk mums and sented candles all in fall colors or burnt oranges, rusts, and golds. Got what I needed at hobby lobby. The fish can be taken home has favors if you still use that theme. I also sewed both my girls wedding gowns and did the whole weddings saved a bunch of money. Congrats Lorie and have fun. Laurie

A friend of my daughters had a western theme for her wedding and got pint canning jars and her stepmom made and painted the bride and grooms name and date of the wedding on them. She made enough for everyone and they took them home with them as a momento.
God bless,

As an anamal lover and a recipent of an unwanted fish (that has passed) I strongly sudgest NOT giving ENYBODY a live animal as a party gift. Personaly I liked the recipe idea, especaly if that dish is served at the recepion. You could even have the recipe printed on the back of the place cards.

Lori, how are y'all coming along with the ideas? Summer, I like the idea of the recipe printed on back of the place cards. Nice. Marly

My daughter gave everyone a bookmark with scripture and also a little silver bell. The bells were rung as they left for their honeymoon instead of throwing stuff!

I love that idea with the bookmark and bell- my daughter has decided that she wants seed packets- I get to decide however "I" want to!! Yeah for me!! We are going to do half tomatoe seeds- because the groom loves tomatoes and the other half flower seeds...they will go into a small vellum envelope with a tag that will say "Let Love Grow" their names and their wedding date. So, time to get the rubber stamps out, the vellum to start making envelopes and start the crafting so that all we have to do is add seeds next spring and have them ready for the BIG day!! Thank you everyone for all of the great ideas...remember I have two more daughters, so I will tuck all the ideas away for the next one!!
