I found this stuck in a book years ago and framed it. If you click on the picture you can see her writing on the bottom. I have no idea where she was from but its one of my favorite things.

Oh wow, that is so amazing! I love history and to have something that old is so neat. 1865 was the last year of our Civil War. Can't you just imagine a woman or a little girl sitting and working on her needlework. What a treasure that is.

Thanks for sharing Nancy. I just love anything of the Civil War period. I own several peices that have been in the family that of the Civil War period and older. It is so awesome to have some history. Laurie

Family portraits that are oil-painted on wood or canvas the frames are gold edged. We have written down that these paintings and the silver teaset dating back to 1789 were moved and buried when Shermann took over our South Carolina plantation. I even have a antique round mirror framed in gold and the mirror part is turning color. This also was at the plantation. Just blove history especially Civil War, I wonder why? hahahahah! Laurie
