I bought this beautiful Old Singer Sewing Machine with cabinet from the late 1900's, it is in mint, working condition except it does not have the Metal Spool Holder. So, I can not sew with it as there is nothing to hold my spool of thread. Does anyone have an extra one I can buy or barter for something you would like?
Let me know please, thank you so much.
Hugs,
Debbie

Ebay is where I just got one. But it came with a drill bit that just fit the hole and sewed just fine. But to have it be as nice as I could I bought a spindle on Ebay.

They have just about anything you need for the older sewing machines.

Hi Debbie,

You have a Singer Model 66 born on January 16, 1911. (I have one too that's from 1917. I love it)

I do have a brand new spool pin that will fit perfect. Would you like to barter something? or if you'd like you can just buy it outright for 5.00 which includes shipping. You can pay me through paypal. Let me know what you'd like to do.

Do you know where I can get the manual for it?
Thanks so much Connie you are a life saver.

Debbie here's the link for a free PDF Manual (save it to your desktop for easy reference): http://www.singerco.com/uploads/download/41_66.pdf

and i dont mind bartering. surprise me if you'd like. I'll send you my address. Send me yours and I'll send this out tomorrow first class.

I love vintage sewing machines. I work on them all the time. I sell them and their parts too. So keep it in mind if you ever need anything else.

My next project is going to be a total restoration (to factory new) on a 1921 Early Model Singer 15.

I'd love to see a pic of your machine.

your welcome, i like to help out. i'm also sending 2 new needles. i always put a new needle in. make sure you clean out everything with canned air and add some singer oil to all moving parts...just a couple of drops, if needed.

Oh I'm happy you found what you're looking for Debbie! And Connie, you may come in handy when I finally get my treadle sewing machine from my mom's when I happen to get my own place...I need a belt for it, but I don't have any of the information for it - I'll have to remember you for sure!

Pam I would be happy too. I love treadles and can tell you where to get anything you need. Let me know when your ready. The biggest piece of info I'll need is the serial #.

In the meantime, here's a link for the belt (the cheapest price anywhere- it's where I get mine:) http://www.ebay.com/itm/72-LEATHER-BELT-SINGER-TREADLE-SEWING-MACHINE-3-16-5mm-/290723350977?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43b07649c1

I have the same type of Singer. Haven't been on the forum for a while. Life and all.
I have gotten many things for my Singer treadle and my 66. I found the bullet bobbins and leather belt for my treadle on ebay and also bobbins for my 66. Ebay is great if you can't get them through someone else. I was fortunate enough to have the manuals for both of mine still with them and intact.
I love the fact that my machines were loved by someone else and I wonder about all the things that may have been made on them.

I haven't been on in ages also, but very glad I peeked in today. I will be ordering extra belts and checking serial numbers on my two treadles to look for manuals. Great info! I'll have to look into it more when I get the time.
