I got the new and improved Cluck yesterday and all I can say is WOW! 80+ pages of Farmgirl Gorgeousness. What do you all think of it? I like it but it seems to have lots of advertisements and shopping links. I understand the economic need for ads but in this tough economy I don't think we need all that beautiful temptation thrown at us. Other than that I still enjoyed all the articles and how to's and welcome CJ to the group of contributors.

I don't mind the advertising - in fact, I found some things I am interested in that I never would have found elsewhere. But I will say that I hate the online format for reading on my laptop. Too much resizing to turn the page and then make it big enough to see - I only just this morning found the button to download the PDF which works 1000% better for me.
Plus with the PDF I can print the pages I am interested in.

Good morning girls! Thanks for the feedback. Our new Sister Issue was a lot of hard work (stay tuned, there’s also a Special Issue coming out on newsstands mid- to late-May). It was fun for my staff to pick their favorites (no ad $s there, just playful window shopping). As you well know, the print world has had its share of downturn. What print advertisers want now are package deals that include online ads, so I’ve been needing to step up to the plate on that for a while. To date, we haven’t allowed the print ads where the $ is: pharmaceutical, toxic lotion and potion products, weight loss ads, food ads from the giants like Kraft, FritoLay, etc. We’re still hand-to-mouth here and using what does come our way to try to make the world a better, less-toxic place while creating jobs in that realm. But it’s an uphill battle. Always has been and always will be. We struggle with the all same things you struggle with, including paying our bills. As always, I hope I can count on your support in an ever-changing world.
P.S. Penny Wise, I use the PDF version myself!

I was so excited to see an expanded version! I too had trouble reading it on my Ipad, so hopped on to the desktop and really enjoyed it! Of course LOVED seeing CJ and her smash book ideas! While I would love to see an "ad free" magazine etc, i know that it must not be possible. I have seen many other magazines that started out "ad free" have an increase in the number of ads. A sign of the times for sure. Although, sometimes it is interesting and you do come across a product etc that you would not have otherwise known about, so you have to take the good with the bad! Overall I definately give it two thumbs up!!!! Hugs,

I have downloaded it several times today. The only way I can read it is as an email. My previous Cluck downloaded in my Nook. But this issue will not. I love what I have seen so far. The function 'click' does not work. Also am unable to hear the song at beginning. I need help. Please. I wish we could go to the MaryJane site and click on the Clucks. Or can that be done?
Another question. I downloaded the App for the MJF magazine today. Do I have to pay for the digital version if I am a print subscriber?
Thanks,
Patsy Farmgirl 4678

Hi Dirt Duchess! Even though Gabe was here late Friday night trying to make sure that all of our new Sister Issue functionalities were functional, it sounds like he still has work to do. He'll be here Monday morning and I'm sure he'll be in touch.
Regarding the online app for the magazine, I do know that we went to all the effort it takes to create the magazine online but have sold only a handful of them. Until the numbers improve, my publisher tells me you'll need to pay separately. Let us know if you have any problems with the app. I've never downloaded an app in my life. I barely know what one is. I'm impressed by your bravery.

Just wondering when i will receive my Cluck in my In-box? I just renewed my sisterhood and have already received my new number in the mail etc. Sounds like this is a great issue of Cluck.

How does one go about subscribing to the Cluck?

All I can say is WOW. Jam packed with so much. Awesome design and well laid out. I have to admit I don't mind the ads as they are well chosen and appropriate. I am just not able to save it onto my computer. Am I missing something?

I could not get it to download on Nook on my IPad but I was able to download on Kindle on my IPad. Can't wait to read it this afternoon.

Nancy, Welcome to the Sisterhood! My guess is that you probably won't automatically receive this issue of the Cluck. Perhaps if you go back to MaryJane's post and send her an email to the email address she listed there, letting her know you've joined the sisterhood and want your name added to the list, etc. that would help. And, if you want to receive the current issue that we're all chatting about, just ask about getting that one sent to you as well. Hope that helps! Again, welcome! CJ

CeeJay, I sent MaryJane a message. Is the Cluck a digital download or hard copy?

MaryJane sent it to me and as soon as dinner is started, I'll be buried in the computer reading it all.
