I have just received another long letter from Michele and she is doing well living off grid on the old homestead and she is happy. She has survived her first winter so that is a plus. She keeps busy repairing things and getting ready to put her spring garden in. And of course with her beloved chickens and her other animals so she is not lonely.
Michele has decided to live off grid a bit longer until March 2014, she will not return home October 2013 as originally planned.
She has ask me to ask her sisters if you have any vegetable or herb seeds you can send her she would appreciate it. She is calling her garden Freedom Garden which is very appropriate I believe.
So, if you wish to share some seeds with Michele or drop her a line email me and I will send you her address.
Thank you farmgirls I know Michele would appreciate any seeds she gets.
Hugs,
Debbie

Hi Debbie, this is just weird. I was thinking of her the other and wonder how she is doing! That is too strange. Am glad she is doing good. She should write a book about her experience. I'd buy it. lol

Thank you for the update on Michele. I have her address and we have corresponded back and forth, but it has been a few months and I have been meaning to get a letter out to her. Thanks to your post I will get together a package and write a letter to send in the coming days.
I never doubted that she would flourish at living off grid!
Hugs,

I will get some seed out to her today. I'm sending 3 varieties of squash seed, sunflowers, tomatoes, string beans, thyme, radishes, and a few others. i don't have a lot of herb seed to send. maybe someone else can send those.

Thank you,
Connie

We have been in touch but I owe her a nice long letter and will get one off to her by the weekend. She is making lots of memories with this adventure and I marvel at her strength! I could never survive in the environment that she's living in...I've survived some difficult times but never as challenging as she.

I know she treasures every note or letter we send her so if we all flood her mailbox with our notes, she'll be on cloud-9.

Can someone tell me more about this subject. Why is this brave girl living off the grid and where (near) is she located. I would love to send her some seeds if she can tell me what type she would like.

Deborah, thanks for the update, I have been a little out of it. I had back surgery in Nov, and was in brace, and therapy, and all kinds of things have been going on. But I am getting on the road to recovery, I have a box started for Michelle, I have seeds, flower and vege. and I want to go to the store, and stock it with some things for treats. Will get it mailed off this evening or tomorrow morning. Thanks for keeping us posted. I love her book, she wrote, and have referred to it many times. I don't think I could do what she is doing either, but am excited to be able to share in this with her. Thanks again, Have a great day! Farmgirl #946 Linda

Michele is a middle age woman who likes living the simple life, she is helping out herself as well as her friend who owns the homestead. She lives in Westport NY, and she is a farmgirl sister and has been for a few years now. She wants any kind of vegie and herb seeds, anything you would wish to send. Do you have her address, if not let me know and I will send it to you.
Thank you,
Debbie

Deborah, thanks for the update. I have prepared a box for Michelle, and want to go to store to fill it with some other things and treats. Will mail this evening or tomorrow morning. I love the book that she wrote, and still refer to it. I have been under the weather since, Nov. I had back surgery and was in brace, with therapy and all, just now getting things going again, and up and around really good. Thanks for keeping in touch with her and letting us know what is going on, it will be exciting to hear her stories one day. I could not do this, but am so thankful, that we can live thru part of it with her. thanks again! Linda Farmgirl #946

Linda, I have had two back surgeries-back in the dark ages though when we were put into a body cast for a year, and a brace for another year after that. lol But, I do not envy you...back then it was such a long recovery-especially healing the collasped lung again-they used to collasp a lung, take out ribs and go in from then front to the back-this was when the surgeries took 12 or more hours. And a month in the hospital for recovery...But, my dad had one a few years ago only hospitalized for like a few days, and surgery was less then 2 hours! No body cast! Still it's a hard recovery and one I don't wish on any one!

Betty-it's a long story but this explains some of it, there was a previous thread to the below one that started it all, but this does have some info that may help-

She will be so happy to hear from you girls. In a recent letter I received from her she had written how lonely she has been at times and the mail was one of her few contacts with friends. She loves hearing from her farm girl sisters and as Debbie has mentioned she writes wonderful letters.

Oh sisters she will be so happy to hear from all of your, as Julie says she does get lonely at times and misses hearing from her farmgirl sisters. Like us all she loves her farmgirl mail.
I can not wait for her first letter from her when all her cards, letter and goodies arrives, she will have a big smile on her face if I know Michele every time she gets her mail.
Hugs,
Debbie

Can anyone who is sending her seeds, tell what kind they are? I was going to buy her some, but I don't want to send her what everyone else is so she doesn't get a ton of one type and none of something else she may like.

Debbie, do you know if she is going to can her veggies?
