So I decided to make my first attempt at marshmallows in time for a Independence Day bonfire. I thought I would rush them, but there is no rushing the mello mallow. I say mystery because it does seem that it's a bit of a mystery that such a thing can come out of the humble farm kitchen. Though how humble a kitchen with a Kitchenaide mixer is, is debatable, I shall maintain my humility and questionable grammar and punctuation. So my gooey gob of mallow-ness is curing for day two after reclining in the fridge overnight, were I thought the cool air would speed up the alchemical process. I consider it nothing short of a miracle that I was able to coax it from the pan without it falling to pieces (insert Patsy Cline music). The fluffy mass was gooey around the edges when I loosened it from the pan so I don't think it's ready to cut up yet. Sigh. Here are pictures, notice my lovely wall hanging in the background, pattern soon to appear on my etsy shop. https://www.etsy.com/shop/SewKayBoutique?ref=shop_sugg

That's great, Wendy! You had me chuckling and nodding in understanding all at the same time! How great that you've done this! You've inspired me! So now, I add making marshmallows back to the top of my "must do this summer" bucket list! :) Kudos, Sister! And love the wall hanging, too! :) Hugs - Nini

I've not tried marshmallows yet, as my friend and fellow farmgirl sister, Sharon . . aka "Calicogirl" . . . makes them. She lives close to me and it's just handy to buy them from her and they are WONDERFUL!!! I'll NEVER go back to those things from the store!
We recently hosted a Neighborhood "Block Party" Potluck and my daughter made the S'more Pie that is in MaryJane's "Milk Cow Kitehcn" book. She used Sharon's marshmallows and, as expected, it was a hit and super delicious!

Wishing you the best!!!

Thanks ladies. The gooeyness persists, I may have to make something that requires marshmallow creme instead of stand-alone marshmallows. If this condition of non-conformity is still present tomorrow I shall put a glob on the end of a roasting stick and take a picture anyways for comic relief.

This made my day! There is something about "other than expected results" projects that always seems to reassure me that Murphy's Law exists to keep us on our toes. I am looking forward to trying my hand at marshmallows as well as soon candy bars for the upcoming fall trick-or-treat season. I will have to remember to keep my patience about me and not try to rush the process, and have a few recipes for marshmallow creme handy.

Thank you for your most delightful and entertaining piece. You made me laugh, smile, and nod my head with sympathy. Different project, same t-shirt.
