So I've canned our first batch of applesauce and following the directions to the letter, they turned out....foamy? (I'm not sure if that's even the right word to describe it...) DH thinks that because they boiled in the jars and that's why there are so many bubbles in them. We did scrape down the sides when we packed the jars, and we left 1/2 inch headspace, but it just expanded so much that they literally oozed out of the jars! They have sealed, but they are just so foamy looking. Is that normal for applesauce to bubble itself in a water bath?
