I love, love, love soup...eating soup, serving soup, cooking soup...and I have finally broke myself of the canned soup habit. Here are some basics of making your own soup. What soup is your favorite? If you have any recipes to share, I'll make them most certainly...

I've been making homemade soups only for years now. The canned ones are awful and homemade is so easy there's no excuse not to make it myself! Thanks for the list, it will come in handy.

I make soup one or two times a week. Keep four kinds of broth/bouillon in freezer: Vegetable, beef, chicken, and corn cob. I keep fresh, dried, canned, roasted vegetables, dried/fresh herbs, and dried beans on hand so I can make soup easily. Sometimes I may add a little meat but mostly I do vegetarian.

The other day just to see how it would turn out I made a pot of soup out of bouillon from the freezer, all dried vegetables including onions & garlic along with a can of tomato sauce and leftover canned tomatoes. Turn out really good and so easy since I didn't have to prepare the vegetables.

Thanks for the list. The only pureed soup that I make is bean - maybe I should check out other kinds.

Yum! Whenever I want broccoli or cauliflower soup I just microwave cut up pieces in a glass bowl with water and it steams them. Then it can be added to a blender with homemade chicken broth and blended to your own degree of chunkiness or puree. Yes, sometimes I add a bit of half and half to cream it more. It is packed with flavor. I like your quick guide. Thanks for the tips.

I always boil the Thanksgiving turkey carcass and freeze some of the liquid and small pieces of meat for soup. I add some additional low sodium broth or bouillon, if needed. I add onions, garlic, spinach or kale, and some spices.
