My sweet little Molly had her first date ever today. She's about 1 1/2 yrs old and has a special place in our hearts. There's a little story about her in my blog. I finally decided to breed her this year and a friend's neighbor raises alpines. So... Molly got set up on a hot date today and things went as planned. We'll know in a few weeks if she doesn't go into heat again if we get to have goat babies in the spring. I'm so excited!!!! Other than chicks and kittens, this is my first ever experience with breeding a farm animal.
Just wanted to share!

Missy

Oh, Baby goats are some of the "Ke-U-test" babies I have ever seen, I love animals so much, and have yet to meet a baby one that was not a heart-stealer, but something about kids just gets to me, maybe those teeny tiny little hooves?! Congratulations and Good Luck! peapodjane |

thanks for the best wishes girls!! I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Yep, she's pretty smelly now! haha I've never been around a newborn kid, so this should be a pretty neat experience for all of us.

Well it appears that Molly is in heat today. Darn!! so much for her hot date!! haha Well, I'm torn as to wether I want to try and have her bread again. There may be one more opportunity, but just don't know if I have the energy to deal with it right now. someone told me that if you wait much longer than two years that if can cause problems for their pregnancy. does anyone know anything about this? She'll be two in the spring and I'm wondering if it's ok to just wait until next fall if I need to. Any suggestions?!

I have had one that I couldn't breed her first year and she did just fine. That stinks when a breeding didn't take. I had one little Saanen doeling years ago who appeared pregnant and never came in heat again after breeding..but went so far past her due date I finally realized that it never "took". Jeesh!!

Thanks Jenny-I think it may have been because it was her second day of heat. I'm wondering if she may have already been coming out of it?!
