Hi everyone,
I write a lot and so far I've published 3 volumes of poetry and I have enough poems for a 4th volume. Some of the poems are silly, some dark, some happy, but they all tell a tale of an event in my life.
I was watching the bridges of madison county today when in the final scene one of the main character's ashes were spread by her kids. The scene moved me to write this poem today. Personally I decided years ago that I want to be cremated when I pass because I do not want to be in a hole in the ground, but one with the earth. After reading it several times, it also made me think of my dogs, Ollie and Daisy who died, and we had them cremated. In an unexpected way I found it comforting. So here's what I wrote....
I AM NOT GONE
I once feared the fiery flames, Now I see the beauty in its release. To become one with the earth, Will bring me a final peace.
To be carried on the winds, As light as butterflies. To be a part of every sunset, And of every new sunrise.
In a ghostly cloud of fragments, Of me now is what remains, To be enveloped in each nights darkness, Or washed away with summer rains.
What is dead now gives life again, I am the new flowers that bloom. I am on the warm spring wind, That you'll smell their sweet perfume.
I'm a cloud floating high above, On a clear blue sunny day, I'm in the sunshine that warms your shoulders, Like a hug to fill your day.
I'm in the soil under your feet, Or a bird flying above, Just remember the life you gave me, When you filled it with your love.
It's in this beauty that I am free, And I'm one with you forever, Remember I am not gone, Again one day we'll be together.

Connie, this is very lyrical and moved me tremendously when I read it. Thank you so much for sharing your talent! Your word pictures gave me a lot to think about, and gave me a real sense of peace.

Connie that was so very lovely and touching to my heart. I just lost my favorite Aunt. She wanted to be Cremated and so I honored that request and we will soon scatter her ashes in the wind at her favorite Beach in Oregon. Would you mind if I shared your Poem with my family? I will give you full credit for it. I too am an Inspirational Poet and have volumes of my own Poetry. I never mind people sharing my Poetry as long as they do not take credit for my words.
Blessings, PeggyAnn

Connie that was amazing.I lost a dachshund a few years back she was buried in a blanket under a Camilia bush and my daughter's baby girl under a Pecan tree. The Camilia has bright pink flowers and I think Wennie is a part of that tree now.And Lola makes those pecans the sweetest ever.I was not there to see Wennie laid to rest, she was hit by a car while I was away on vacation.Have not wanted to take another since. When I leave now it is with my babies in tow.But your poem brought comfort to my saddened heart.I have been spreading Doxie mommy love to those who have lost their babies.I wish you could put this on there. It is on Facebook called Weenies with wings.I have been crying with them for a few hours. And this so lightened that pain.
