Krista, I kept a spiral notebook on my kitchen table and jotted down any changes I made. I've finished all the mixes and now to write it up to submit.
Cindy, I read all the badges you achieved. I'm in awe of you. Well done!

Way to go Sara! You are doing awesome with your badges. I really need to get back at mine! I just need to write up my intermediate cross stitch badge for submitting. I will do that this weekend.

Krista, I am happy to report I achieved the intermediate and expert badges too. Will take a break from working on badges and do something else for a while. Hope to come back to badges in a couple of weeks. I'll be checking in to see what everyone is up to.

Oh my goodness, I am in total awe at the accomplishments of the Merit Badge Awardees these last few days. Amazing and very inspirational. I haven't attempted any Merit Badges yet, but you Farmgirls are sure inspiring me. Keep up the good work. jean

I agree Jean! So many amazing and talented ladies here! You should definitely give them a try yourself. Do you know which one you would want to start with first if you do?

I got my planner a couple weeks ago and am currently reading some books. It's been YEARS since I earned any badges! I can't believe it's been so long but I'm hoping to get quite a few accomplished this year :) If you're looking for a good place to start I suggest the chocolate one :) I'm reading the book now and can't wait to go back to the chocolate shop and sample the goodies - for the sake of earning a badge of course LOL!!

You are so right Heather! "The True History of Chocolate" will be my next book to read (and I can't wait to do the chocolate sampling part for that badge). I am currently reading the "Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd for my "Secret Life of Bees" badge. I'm quite enjoying it!

Cindy - that's too funny! I just finished "The Secret Life of Bee's"!!!! It was a very good book.
I'm thinking I might have to research more than one chocolate place - just to see for sure what I like best LOL!!!

Oh my goodness! I just realized that my son Tilton will be old enough this year (in December) to start working on the Young Cultivators Badges! I’m excited to get started on them with him! I did see that I can request for him to start earlier than 6. I will have to look at the badges and see if there are any he would be able to do now and could apply for him to start now!

Hi Krista,
I am working on the "Disconnect to Reconnect" and "Outstepping" badges this weekend. Your son might enjoy achieving these badges if he likes camping and being outdoors. I know you guys are heading into your summer over there, so it might be a great time to go hiking and explore some trails he's never been on before.
Have fun achieving your badges together! Cindy

Krista, I'm ready to start another merit badge - canning. Hope to work on the paperwork later this week. Actual canning will be the easy part because that is what I have been doing.
Have fun working with your son on him earning badges.

Krista, I hadn't even thought about doing badges with my grandson. He's got a couple of years to go, but that would be so much fun. I'll have to have a look at the badges. I haven't been working on any badges lately, although I'm sure there's a couple that I just need to write up. I've been busy - bookkeeping, doing an editing course (I should look at that grammar one), and now getting out in the garden. I've been knitting in my spare time, that's one that I probably just have to write up. Sara have fun with the canning, I should take a look at that one too. Cindy, it sounds like you've been really busy with badges!

Good luck with the canning badge Sara.
Jill, you have been busy! And it sounds like you have completed a few badges along the way as well. I need to look into the ufo badge because I may have completed some of that myself. I may be doing some others with starting my garden.

I have a question. What is the difference between the different levels of badges? I have Beginner, intermediate and expert for Shopping Green but I was only sent the one badge and 3 different certificates. The badge has one dotted line and one solid line. I understood there was one badge and different lines around them for each level. Do we make the extra lines ourselves? Thanks to anyone who can help me out.

Denise, it's my understanding that there is just 1 badge design for each badge. You add your own embroidery, markings, whatever you choose, to denote the level of your badge earned. So, anyone earning the beginning level of a badge would have 1 line/border around the outside. If you earn other levels of that badge, you will add another line or border after the first one. So..if you saw a merit badge with 3 different decorative lines around the badge, you would know that that farmgirl sister had earned her expert level in that particular badge. Looking at mine, it looks as though the solid line is your cutting line. The dotted line is probably where you would put your first beginner line around the design. The other 2 lines would need to be fit in between...unless you decided to make your badge a little bigger around.

Denise, Debbie’s post is spot on—the first dotted line is where you stitch a border after you’ve earned the beginner level, and then you would add two more borders outside the beginner row once you’ve earned the intermediate and expert levels.
You can read more about this here: http://www.farmgirlsisterhood.org/merit-badges.asp. The text in the left column titled “Earning Farmgirl Sisterhood Badges” talks about badge images specifically beginning in the fourth paragraph.
I hope this helps!

Over the weekend I started working on my beginner origami badge. I made a crane, boat, and plane. Now I just need to apply for the badge. This morning I went and purchased some colored paper to get started on the intermediate level.
What badges are you working on? Anyone working on the origami badges?

What fun! I'm working on some gardening and preserving ones. I need to finish a book and do the hardest part for me - apply for them! The origami looks fun - I'll have to read what all it involves.
