Congratulations Krista and Family. What is a Farmgirls Guide? How do I not know about it?

Wow! Congratulations to you Krista and your kids! You have all been very constructively busy. I used to do those kind of things with my kids when they were young. Not badges but entries in our local fair's junior section. Every time they moaned about having nothing to do I got them to pick something from the list of possible entries. Then the day before the fair, we did so much baking, they all had to take turns. The kitchen was a disaster by the end of the day, but I really miss those times.

Jill, that sounds like so much fun! Everleigh really wanted to enter something into the fair this year, but she decided to be a part of the fair parade with her dance studio instead. I think next year she will do both.

Wonderful idea, Jill! Fallon and I just swung by our county's fair and discovered they offer prizes for biggest, best, and most unusual garden veggies. If we're organized enough to get planting in time, that might keep us busy without a lot of kitchen clean up!
I realized in updating my community service log that I've accumulated enough hours to apply for the Intermediate level! Most of these hours have been in the form of co-leading a Brownie Girl Scout troop and acting as treasurer for the school's parent group. Is it *really* community service if your own kid is benefiting? Hehe. I still have plans to branch out to help at the public library and the community center garden. Are any of you all volunteers? Which forms of service do you find most satisfying?

Way to go Christine! I think those types of community service are the best. Our children really benefit from seeing us help out. Plus it sometimes allows us to spend more time with them!

Being in a parade sounds like a lot of fun, Krista! Well done Christine, and yes, it definitely counts if you volunteer with your kid's activities. I was a Cubs leader for 5 years and I've been a 4H leader for 26. I find working with kids the most satisfying. I was the "A" leader of the 4H club for 12 years (organizational role and overall leadership). I'm the Fibre Arts and paper work leader now and enjoy that much more. I love teaching the kids about spinning, weaving, felting, knitting etc. I'm also on the workshop committee for my Spinning and Weaving Guild. I also volunteer when I have time with the local Historical Artifacts Society. We are creating a Textile Emporium in one of the small buildings on site. You have motivated me to apply for my Community Service badge, I'm going to do it right now (holding myself accountable).
